The promise of the girl turning into a donkey from eating some feed brings to my mind a French saying : "Bête à manger du foin", literally 'Beast/Dumb (enough) to eat hay' to say that someone is very dumb. Well if the outcome was any indication, she's wasn't that wise when she felt hungry.
