We are officially releasing the fan translation. (Pixiv Fanbox)
Content
For some reason, my international follower count suddenly shot up → I found a pirated English translation → I managed to track down the translator’s Discord server and got in touch → after a bit of back and forth → I got hold of the data → I posted the English translation on the author’s account
Here’s my stance ✌️
・I’m against pirated copies and illegal uploads (which is why I contacted the translator and had them remove the URLs to pirate sites that were originally listed at the bottom of the page)
・I think it’s a shame that people overseas can’t read my work
・My work hasn’t sold well enough to warrant an English translation, so I can’t arrange one myself
・That’s why I’m taking this approach
・If you feel so inclined, please buy the e-book. I can’t make a living without the money
(・As ‘Ogya Naru’ is a work where the author permits excerpts they approve of, I’ll treat this as an excerpt for now)
Nice to meet you.
I’m speaking to you using DeepL Translate.
I may not be able to convey everything I mean, but please feel free to ask if there’s anything you don’t understand.
I discovered that my manga had been reposted via fan translations.
I contacted the translators, obtained their permission, and have posted the translated versions on Twitter and FANBOX.
Whilst reposting fan translations isn’t legally permissible, I believe it’s a good thing that manga culture is spreading and that everyone can find joy through manga.
(There are various issues, of course, such as the fact that not all Japanese manga can easily be translated, and that some people don’t buy official translations even when they’re available…)
Furthermore, the translator told me, ‘I do this because I love yuri manga and want to share it with others,’ and I feel we share the same aspirations.
When reading manga, it’s definitely easier to enjoy it wholeheartedly without the guilt of reading a reposted version for free.
Furthermore, if money doesn’t circulate, this culture will wither away, and I, as a commercial manga artist, will be left high and dry.
That’s why I’ve decided to make it available for a fee on FANBOX.
Some of you may have already read all the reposted content for free.
Thank you for enjoying it. If you liked it, I’ve also created some bonus comics that are exclusive to FANBOX, so please do enjoy those as well.
There’s also a service like this that connects Japanese manga with translators:
If this service gains traction, I’m sure even more people will be able to enjoy manga.
Thank you for reading this far.
Above all, I’d be delighted if you enjoyed the manga!
One of my new dreams is to one day officially welcome NAGIHOKO, who translated my manga, as a translator and work with her.
