Well, guys, we fucked up.

Obviously, Episode 2 did not release today as expected. Nothing unexpected came up or got in the way, we simply underestimated the amount of work involved to get the episode to a state fit for release, and that's on us.

We apologize to everyone who was waiting and had their hopes up. There's just the two of us working full time on the game, and sometime we overestimate how much we can do and how quickly. This isn't an excuse, just an explanation, and it's something we know we need to get better at.

All that said, Episode 2 is very close to being ready, but we are reluctant to give a concrete date considering our track record. It's not a huge delay; we'll need a week or so at most to finish up testing, fixing a few technical issues, and putting on the polish.

We'll keep everyone informed, and give a date once we are sure, beyond a doubt, that it's ready. Not "will be ready" but is ready.

Once again, we are very sorry for getting everyone's hopes up. We'll do better.

It's worth it honestly, when do u think it will come out?

Worth the wait 🙏, quality over quantity. But don't make us wait too long lol.

I said before in the Discord but I’ll say again that it’s okay and we understand that these things could happen. Given that this is your first major game, you can overestimate the time to finish development. Of course as a few said, it does frustrate them that this news came on the day of its supposed release date. Hopefully you’ll learn from this and if you’re certain you can’t make it in time you can either notify about a delay at least a week or more in advance. No need to stress yourself or work without sleep to try to make the deadline in short notice. Again hopefully this helps you guys learn in making sure to be absolutely sure your content is ready to go and as most of us who followed and supported you for years, we’ll understand and be willing to wait when it’s ready as we know how much this game means to you guys ❤️

Take all the time you need guys! I rather play Episode 2 without any bugs and glitches. Please release Episode 2 when you feel like it's ready to be release. 😁

No problem at all , do you guys have a discord channel so I can stay up to date for the release ?

Lol at “a week or so”. I understand there are hiccups, but this is now the second month in a row you are missing the release date. That’s not bad luck, that’s just gross incompetence. You should comp your supporters at this point. Unreal.

Hey no sweat. I certainly understand, and I think the majority of your fanbase does as well. Thank you for transparancy though! Always appreciated. I've got an MBA, and I work in a "Project" field related to engineering, and honestly scheduling and accurately setting client expectations is Very Hard (tm). I disagree with the comment that delays reflect "GrOsS iNcOmPeTaNcE". That's a pointlessly reductive reaction. Most delays simply reflect how difficult it is to estimate/plan work, and the inherant uncertainty in what life throws your way. Yes, developers are responsible to hit targets as best they can and avoid delays. But at the same time there's obviously more context and nuance than that. "Incompetance does not have to exist for mistakes to be made." -Leo McGarry, The West Wing -> I genuinely believe this is true. So keep doing what you're doing! Generally good advice is just to do your best when Estimating, and set customer expectations accordingly. ...Which you're obviously already doing. Just wanted to recognize that as a positive. Some customers will inevitably get upset, but there's nothing you can do about that. Don't let that make you gunshy about doing the right thing. I honestly have more confidence in a partner who comes forward with information that is not necessarily in their best interest and tries to be transparent/honest. This is the very definition of "Acting in Good Faith". It's much preferable to to a partner who is "Perfectly Competant" but cherry picks information and only tells me what I want to hear. This nuance is lost on some people... Alas. -------------------- Other Feedback/Observations: Some projects / products benefit differently from various kinds of extra polish. For example, a highly story driven RPG like Witcher 3 or BioWare RPGs would benefit from a delay to polish the writing or the visuals, more than something like Street Fighter where the focus more on the depth of the moment to moment gameplay mechanics I think one of Vaygren's USPs "Unique Selling Propositions" is that it's visually distinct, and highly polished. It's Higher End...! ...like the iPhone of H-games. Therefore, I think that it benefits more from extra time spent on polish than a run of the mill RPGMaker game might. That's a big part of what makes it great and unique. TLDR: Delays are ok as long as you've got good reasons, and as long as they are paired with good-faith expectation setting. There are short term downsides, but usually everyone wins in the long run. --------------------- Anyways. I think you guys really have something special here, and I think your fans realize this too! I don't want Impatient Customers to incentivize Short Term Thinking. We see you and we like you! Keep your eye on the ball. You've got a great thing going here. Your game has terrific personality. I think you're going to catch lightening in a bottle with this thing. -G

Hiccups happen, but don't worry, I know both of you are working hard and giving it your all to make the end product as close to perfection as possible. Just a thought: Sometimes it is better to just have the mentality of "it will be ready when it is ready" instead of having a deadline/release date, that might help with taking off the pressure and avoiding complaints. Love your work and thank you once more for all of your hard work!
