WSWF EPISODE 4 FULL

Comments

Maria

the conspiracy theory breakdowns are everything!

J D

Will they do a sympathetic 4 minute cut next ep about all the hate riehata is getting rn or is that reserved for the home team only? It's not bumsups fault that mnet is pushing like this but ngl it is hard not to be resentful of them atp. I was a big fan of the swf1 leaders but mnet had all these amazing world class talents come all the way to korea to participate in a fair competition just to be sacrificed at the altar of bumsup.

Fatitima15

the riehata character assassination really is so freaking crazy ngl if i was her i would feel so so disrespected. this woman created so many amazing choreos for so many people just to come on this show and be hated over edited false narratives its so crazy🤕 mnets editing will always have an enemy in me

Sal

Tbh, I felt a bit weird about the intro, especially after seeing them secure the most votes. I started seeing hate comments on other crew's videos just because they didn't cheer/react positively to Bumsup or simply going against them in a battle or challenge... The intro felt a bit out of touch. No one should receive hate comments on the show period, no matter what crew they're on. If possible, I would love to have more conspiracy theory segments. I'll make sure to wear my tin foil hat.

Fatitima15

motiv is always a vibe but they were especially a vibe in this episode i just love them so much🥹

JessReacts764

I don’t mind continuing with our conspiracy theories 🥳

K S

I find it really funny that the BGM for Kaea's vlog at the end is the same music I've seen a bunch of Youtubers with <1k subscribers use (not that there's anything wrong with having few subscribers, I just think it's interesting that such a large corporation like Mnet is resorting to royalty free music instead of getting music cleared or producing their own).

Sal

lol ibuki spills ALL of the tea and I wonder how production feels about it. i bet they hate it more that ojo got more popular lmao

Sal

Here's my conspiracy theory - Mnet wants a team with weak points for entertainment. If a team is too well balanced, it's too boring for them and they'll try to manipulate what they can to bring them down.

JessReacts764

So another conspiracy theory is that they aren’t too happy with what’s going public as of late and now everyone is having to clear their footage before uploading now… 🌚😤 but you know… it’s all conspiracy 🧐

J D

no yeah that's the first thing I thought when they announced 2 japanese teams. I was like, OK, MNET obviously wants to split the japanese voterbase (Japanese ppl that get attached to OJO or RH aren't going to automatically hop over once one of them gets eliminated. when one team goes most of their fanbase goes with them) AND make Japan drastically less well rounded. Put the choreographer on RH and all the battlers on ojo. Game over

maria

as for the battles, i would have given every single one, minus maybe the group routine, to ojo lol

JessReacts764

So I have a conspiracy theory to this. Take what you would like: Japan was only supposed to have one team, but not all potential members agreed to who all would be on it, so some of the extra members were dropped by Mnet…. Then brought back on last minute with a team 😬

Sal

I told you the "Kpop" criteria is so... ugh. Kpop borrowed hip-hop, so what really IS Kpop? If we look at the new stuff GD and Jhope is putting out, does that fit the "Kpop criteria?". We even have Charm Ladonna choreographing for Jennie. None of what her dancers do fits whatever criteria they had in mind. When I heard those comments, I'm like... be so forreal lol.

Sal

I wonder if they're setting things up for RHTokyo. At first, I thought that's what they were doing to Motiv. But now, I'm thinking they're approaching the ojo gang vs rhtokyo narrative differently now that ojo gang is more popular (there's literally fan-bots that comment the same thing lol). Rhtokyo is getting blasted by bumsup and ojo Stans, and mnet might take advantage of that unfortunately. There was parallel to how mnet edits bumsup and ojo gang in this episode, so we might see more of that.

CalEmblem

I find it so distasteful that every crew besides Bumsup has had some sort of "evil edit"... It almost feels like Bumsup can do no wrong on the show yet any comment or demonstration of pride in one's craft/abilities is immediately used against the other teams (Rie Hata in leader class, Motiv in k-pop mission, Royal Family as a whole). Is this show just a means to spreading Korea's soft power and wanting to demonstrate their greatness on a global scale? That is what I have been taking away.

There are reasons for the using no copyright fee music: swf is streaming or vod all over the world, which means that has to release its copyright per country. This is also why music used in battles is limited to common songs. You might think that mnet is lazy, but so are other k content producers (Sometimes when a performer sings a copyrighted song on the show, the scene is skipped to within one line or replaced with another free song, etc.).. It'll be minimize the time it takes to produce a video to meet the deadline for uploading content.

Anyone trying to assert that bumsup is an underdog is so cognitively dissonant I cannot

I’m always here for a conspiracy theory, I’ll make sure to pack my tin foil hat for the next ep 🙂‍↕️ Every time someone said Motiv routine wasn’t kpop I had to roll my eyes. I’d pay any of those people to actually explain what they mean outside of just a “feeling” and “vibes” They do that every season where they could have an audience btw with eliminations, they have them leave once it gets down to the last battle I think, now how they know to get the audience out of there at the right time? 👀🤷‍♀️ Also the whole intro with Bumsup… If they do it for Bumsup I expect it for every crew, that’s all I’ll say.

Yoeul Cho

In terms of the subtitle at 2:03:36 when you said they're pushing that AG is original and RF recycles, the English subtitle is actually incorrect here. Monika says "just the way they're standing is so much 'the original'" (original aka OG Royal). I think this season has had a lot of linguistic and cultural clashes, from the actual competition between teams to the production and editing side as well as the viewer side. In Korea there's a common quote called 방방봐 which means 방송을 방송으로 봐 or "watch the show as a show/for the show that it is" i.e. don't read into it too much, especially for Mnet shows. You'll see a lot of people comment that to people if they write stupid stuff on comments like they're too heated on what is obvious reality messiness. Also for the audience leaving for the last round, they did that for season 2 as well with Tsubakill. I think it's a bit cruel but at the same time, especially for Koreans, most people like when their crew is in elimination (though it sucks to be eliminated) because of the screentime they get and they find the elimination battles to be the most fun part aha. Especially once megacrew is done it's sort of whatever, many people don't care who wins it's just to see their crews the most 😭

In fact, there are a number of phased reasons why RHT is attacked (I don't take well of that)... First of all, Kyoka's popularity exploded even before the first episode was aired in Korea, which also increased the popularity of OJO Gang. Even now, every time the episode is aired, their popularity skyrockets. Maybe even more than their own team, Bumsup. According to the flow of the broadcast, there was a narrative of Osaka vs Tokyo, so there were a significant number of fans who were immersed and opposed to it. Because there was a difficult battle decision to understand in that situation... The confrontation grew. And overall, they were very dissatisfied with the judges, especially JYP. As you can see from Ojo Gang's behind-the-scenes talk, their standards were inconsistent. In the process, there are a lot of people who felt that JYP seemed to defend RHT in a noticeable way. With speculation that they are biased against rht because they want to get good choreography from Rie later on. In fact, when the broadcast began, the evaluation of the Bumsup was not very high in Korea. In the pre-released K-pop mission, while other national teams showed such unique and powerful dances, there were many people who felt that the dance was sloppy and lacking in strength. There were also rumors that it was a decline due to age. There were also frequent comments that the membership should have been mixed with the cast members of season 2. However, there must have been a sense of sadness in one's mind. They appeared under the concept of the national team, and it is natural that they feel proud if they do well and sorry if they don't do well, right? Under such circumstances, the worst dancer of leader class was pointed out. With Mnet's biased storytelling. Based on the above, Rie is hardly at fault. Unfortunately, however, she was targeted to resolve the unfairness and frustration they felt during the broadcast. It seems to be similar to the psychology of attacking participants who are considered PD-Pick (not known whether it is true) in the debut survival show. Apart from this, some people hate Rie because she has a history of posting photos with japanese war criminal flag designs on IG in the past. But it's a view of history that's not that far away, so it's not something to criticize... because the actual victim is still alive.

Ebony Coco

Someone who was there at the battle said that they left before the last one so that they wouldn't know the results. They also said Royal Family's power in person was insane and that their energy fills the space and is overwhelming. I think this is why RF won some of the battles they did. Their energy possibly influenced the judges.

Tiffany Rhoads

I wanna add my little input on the whole "not feeling like K-pop" thing, as I took a class this past semester in Korea on K-pop and what constitutes as K-pop music. My professor mentioned that K-pop itself is a very broad genre that has a multitude of different key points to it. It's not just based solely on the language it is sung in, or the musical aspects by itself. It also includes things like performance, visual aspects (music video, fashion, etc.), and even the business model behind K-pop groups. People like to say that KATSEYE isn't K-pop because they don't sing in Korean and they only have 1 Korean member, but from what I've learned in my class, they are considered K-pop. Their management, training, concept, visual aspects, performance, they are all influenced by the K-pop industry. When JYP was creating the group VCHA he called them an American-based global K-pop group because they were still considered K-pop even though they sang in English, were based in America, and only had one member who was ethnically Korean. And you are extremely right about a song being sung in Korean doesn't automatically make it K-pop. It needs to have all the same aspects as what is defined as K-pop to be considered K-pop. XG is a bit of a tricky one because they incorporate a mix of J-pop, K-pop and Western aspects to their songs and stuff, so you can't really place them into one category. But KATSEYE, no matter what people may want to believe, are considered K-pop just by looking at the overall aspects of the group and not just the fact that they don't sing in Korean and aren't all Korean members.

sunflowertuliplily

I have my own conspiracy theory... I think Mnet was very much aware of royal family's choreo repetition before the public called it out and instead of saying anything, they did all this (and tailored certain things) so they would have an easy elimination pick because people aren't really mad about this first elimination because of that. At least, what I've noticed is most people are pretty chill about it despite royal being a super strong team.

케이

I just want to say that the chopping and clipping together of audio has been present in all other seasons of the Street series and other Mnet survival show franchises. And yes, it's always been as bad and obvious as you can tell now that they're doing it to English speakers. Even in Korean, they sometimes clip two phrases together that don't make grammatical sense or they add in comments that don't make sense with the timing. Mnet's editing is a joke and now even ppl who don't speak Korean can tell.

Nigel W.

yeah they sent audience home so they wouldnt know who got eliminated, same thing happened in season 2 for the elim battles but they showed it in season 2, guess they didnt have enough time to show it here.

JessReacts764

Oh yes.. Bless Mnet because now everybody and their mom know how they edit haha

Kira

What an episode ey? ahahahah My spirit for it all, is Kyoka's face at the end of the second relay, when the results came through. Reading the comments, it seems that the people in the room felt RF's incredible energy, which is why I would have understood if the judges gave them the first relay, even though, in "theory" it is their job to be impartial and look at it from a technical standpoint, but whatever, vibes and energy do count to a certain extent, so for one time I get it. The second relay though, particularly those 5s that kyoka dominated, took the chance when RF hesitated and showed us some good actual battle mindset... idk idk, honestly I expected babysleek to keep it more cool and impartial, which she did in the first 3 battles, but then the last two all judjes were just kind of going with the vibe? Which is not inherently a bad thing, if you are part of the audience, but as a judge? Again, now I undestand why Jessica makes it a point each and every time to do her job as meticulously as she does! :) Seriously Jessica, why aren't you there, you would be the best! Anyway, living for the tea spilled this ep, and overall just happy that Ojo and Motiv crew admist all the mess, made it! I'm sorry that RF got caught in the political, if we want to call it that , side of mnet, it's real injustice at this point, but how are we still surprised considering the show's history. We'll see how all this goes at the end, and what sort of convoluted story will they paint! One thing for sure, despite the show, I've come to know amazing new dancers, and it doesn't matter how it all goes, I have mad respect for them all, and wish them all the best!

JessReacts764

Thank you Kira! If Mnet reaches out, I may have to do a poll on here since I would be so indecisive hahahaha and MORE conspiracy theories are on the way.. Just going to drop them as we go along haha

Sal

Based on the comments section on YT, it really helps to be a bumsup and/or ojo ally

Sky

I just found this. Another example of mnet editing their words. Moana commented on a fan's tiktok: "I’d like to confirm I never thought I could bet kyoka😭 Mnet with their amazing editing chopped my words into saying I was angry because I thought I should win. I actually said “I was angry because I knew I danced to win instead of dancing to have fun” and that’s why I knew I lost even before Kyoka started dancing. Also felt bad cause we were one round away from being eliminated but yea slay x" The tiktok: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSktVaThK/

I chuckled every time Jess said "You guys want another conspiracy theory? 😏 " because I already knew what she would say cause I was thinking it too 😂
