Welcome to the Fightful Select AEW Double or Nothing SCOOPS THREAD! This will be constantly updated throughout the night.

• Regarding the New York Post story saying that Mercedes Mone was cleared in December 2023, AEW sources reached out to say that if that was the case, it was a major surprise to them. NJPW sources said that if she was able to wrestle in January they would have tried to book her for Wrestle Kingdom and Battle in The Valley. AEW sources we spoke to said that it was pretty clear that Mercedes wasn’t going to be wrestling until May, and that was due to the injury.

• We’re told by NJPW sources that multiple names had been mentioned as the AEW World Title challenger for Forbidden Door. However, we’ve also been told that outside the box options have been considered as it relates to the PPV.

• Expect to see more New Japan wrestlers pop up in the coming weeks, as soon as this week. We’re also told other familiar faces will be popping up in AEW.

• The last we’ve heard was that Britt Baker was not in Las Vegas for AEW Double or Nothing. To clarify recent reports, we’ve not heard anything regarding the amount of communication between the two sides.

• For those asking about Jamie Hayter, when asking this week, we didn’t get an update.

• Hiroshi Tanahashi’s AEW appearance for Collision was a closely kept secret.

• As highlighted yesterday, Juice Robinson is in Las Vegas for this weekend’s shows and is backstage. Wheeler Yuta is also in town. We haven’t been given details on the returns of either one.

• Those that we've spoken to in AEW expect MJF to be back very soon.

• Fightful Select asked about the possibility of Gangrel being involved in the show tonight. While we weren’t told anything specific to tonight, we were told by people who train with him that overtures had been made to him by AEW.

• For those asking, we’re told Pat Buck assigns producers on AEW shows.

• WrestleVotes tweeted "Hearing from sources in Las Vegas to not miss the beginning of tonight’s Double or Nothing PPV. Big happenings are expected very early in the show! #AEWDoN" When we asked about that, we were just told "yes," but didn't get any context.

• Based on the BetOnlineAG odds, we're picking all the favorites to win on tonight's show so far.

• The new Trent theme was done by Mikey Rukus.

• In case you wondered, there was an obvious audible called with the first table spot in the FTW Title match.

• AEW believes Jim Ross will be back for the next PPV.

• The new Adam Copeland theme was Slayer "South of Heaven." He used it at WrestleMania 39.
