Bryan Danielson is headed to AEW All in but still isn't under contract to AEW.

Danielson noted that his contract with AEW expired on August 1, and when speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, said that he has not extended it, and has no contract of any kind right now with AEW. He said he doesn't look at his phone very much, but he'll always answer for Tony Khan if he does, and they'll explore options when the time comes. Danielson said that his priority after ending his in-ring run will be getting his neck better, which likely involves surgery sooner than later. However, he wants to help AEW when he can and wants to help as much as they can and as long as they want it. He said "I'm willing to participate."

We asked if anyone else has reached out about him not being under contract, he said no, but then remembered he has almost 4,000 unread text messages and said theoretically there could be inquiries in there.

Danielson told Sapp that the disciplinary committee isn't fun to participate in, but says he's honored by it because they think that he's level headed and represents the wrestler's perspective well. He's not sure if he continues on it after he's done wrestling.

Danielson spoke about what holds he thinks are underutilized, getting to work with Jake Shannon and Billy Robinson, the evolution of wrestling and music, the memes, tree semen and more.

We prefer that you wait until the transcript and audio is available as to not take Danielson out of context, but please link to our interview when using this news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFPRZImBG9o

Seems likely to transition to a non wrestling role for AEW, in one form or the other. Exactly what that'll be, and when it'll come to be, only time can tell!

Noah Sheehan

Can you please clarify if Bryan danielson is under an employment contract with AEW outside of his wrestling contract? I remember reports that he and mox were given salaried positions on top of their wrestling contracts. Could be wrong tho.

Matthew Bamford

Oh, they really could be having Danielson lose the match.

T Mar

Well yeah, they already have Swerve’s All Out opponent ready.

On the Tip of Your Tongue

I'm pretty positive he is, that's the only way this makes any sense. If not he's just willfully performing duties for no pay, but I mean hey he is Danielson so who knows, the guy is a lil odd

Daniel Carbajal

We need to remember Bryan Danielson is huge on working the internet. Just because it’s reported from first person source (he himself), doesn’t mean he’s not working the dirt sheets. That said, I don’t buy this at all

Dragmire

Swerve vs Hangman doesn't need the belt. Hangman could very well cost Swerve the belt and continue the feud that way

Ali Khan

If he wins at All In, I refuse to buy the fact that he's under no contract. His contract ending on the 1st of August does seem to be a little bit of a work!

Matt Hennessy

Man would love to see Bryan wrestle for both AEW & WWE after he retires from full time wrestling on a per appearance deal. You could have him wrestling Okada one month on AEW PPV & then 3 months later he shows up on WWE & does a PLE feud with Gunther

Samantha L. Sayre

Moxley wasn't on a contract for a long time. He just kept getting his normal pay until one was signed. Same thing with Cody. They all know TK's word is good.

Matt Hennessy

Your probably right but I also think he’s a big enough star that he could be an exception to rule do I think it will happen probably not but it would be cool
