Dustin Rhodes’ contract came up, but he hasn’t necessarily left AEW/ROH as of yet.

Fightful Select reported that Rhodes’ deal with the company was set to expire at the end of September or the start of October. Rhodes has not wrestled for the company since then, despite being ROH Tag Team and Six Man Tag Team Champion.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp was able to confirm that negotiations between the two sides has been ongoing, but it was claimed that nothing was done as of yet. Rhodes has wrestled more matches in 2024 than any year he’s had since 2020. He’s on pace to have his busiest in ring year since 2018.

In addition to wrestling, Dustin Rhodes has long helped out with the women’s division in AEW, as well.

I could see Dustin be like a Jeff Jarret figure where he goes back and forth between companies.

Bit weird to hear I assumed when he won the tag belts he’d probably already signed

I don't understand why it seems like AEW takes FOREVER trying to re-sign everyone. Seems like everyone is pushed until the 11th hour or after their deals expire before a deal can be made.

I hope he stays

BugabooJonez

nothing against him but i am not a fan of this double title run. also we don't have anyone younger to help with the womens side?

Brian Moore

I hope he stays, I want him to win the ROH World title at All In Texas. He deserves it!!!!

Dustin Runnels to WWE ID confirmed

I'm a huge Dustin fan. He can still go in the ring, have moments, and everything I read about him personally and behind the scenes, he is exactly who any wrestling company should want on their team.

It happens everywhere. Drew McIntyre took til almost the last minute, and Becky obviously never re-signed. I believe KO is going to be close, as well.

I think if he goes to WWE, he will be used for a limited period with Cody, then disappear. I would like to see him stay in AEW and continue to increase his backstage work as his wrestling career heads towards the end.

I have also been thinking about Cody having him ringside as everybody except Randy, Jey and Sami truly dislike Cody (in kayfabe ofc) and take out some of the threats outside of the ring and maybe get listed as a manager

More performers understand this is a time to drag negotiations out as they have more options then 6-7 years ago. Even if Kevin Owens does resign, I would not be shocked to wait until he has an official AEW offer to maximized his income.
