AEW possibly consolidating titles (Patreon)

There could be less titles in AEW before long.

With Kenny Omega winning the AEW International Title at Revolution, many have discussed the possibility of unifying AEW titles. The common possibility was that of Kazuchika Okada’s Continental Championship being merged with the International Title in some capacity.

Well, good news for those that have wanted it.

AEW sources that Fightful has spoken to claim that the combination has been pitched dating back a number of months. To the point that many in the company had considered them firm creative plans. We’ve not heard specifically who would be carrying that torch, or if the titles would form something collectively or be carried together, or rebranded as a unified titles. 

AEW also retired the FTW Title in September 2024 to help further consolidate the titles. 

We’ve not heard if Okada vs. Omega is specifically a part of the plans.

Omega vs Okada was teased before omega went on hiatus for diverticulitis so it's definitely happening,gotta give the people what they want!

I'd rather they get rid of the TNT/TBS titles personally. I'd also like to see them model a women's mid card title after one of those too.

I mean NJPW had their IWGP Intercontinental Championship so I don’t see why AEW can’t call theirs that too (although fed tribalists will be insufferable about it)

Just have 1 World title (AEW Title) The International title (Mid card) Trios Tag titles (I'd consider ridding these also, but can stay) Them Aew Tag titles TBS title for women's mid card Then Aew Women's title that's it.

I would understand because they've been treating the Continental championship in a way that makes me think it would have worked better as a prize rather than an actual championship. But the C2 needs to still be for but the C2 needs to still be for a shot at whatever title replaces the continental title.

International is the #2 belt, TNT is the workman belt and is defended, on TV, twice a month. It should be like Orange's International title run.

Or just say "fuck it" and call it the InterContinental Championship and be done with it. If NJPW can have one so can AEW.

The International Title has sneakily become like a 2nd World Title with better matches. Consolidate the titles, make a new belt

I feel like the international title should be given to someone that takes it all over the world and into other promotions. An ambassador style title. If you find someone you may be looking into recruiting, maybe have them win it. Or come onto AEW TV to challenge, give some shine to smaller promotions.
