Sting may have not made his last WWE appearance.

Lex Luger is headed into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, and the natural selection to induct him is his longtime tag team partner, rival and friend, Sting. Despite having retired over a year ago, Sting has remained a part of All Elite Wrestling, and has a new Legends-esque deal since retiring.

We’re not sure if that would require AEW signing off on Sting possibly inducting Luger, but we’re told that WWE was planning to make overtures if they hadn’t already about making that happen. Luger and those close to him did inform WWE that Sting was the preferred choice.

It's worth noting Sting had told people he probably wouldn't be able to do it because of his AEW deal.

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve heard Sting’s original plans called for him to only be in Vegas during WrestleMania week for a limited schedule, and it’s now expanded.

I think tony would let him do it simply out of love for him and luger.

TheMightyKyle

A cynical person would think that's why they selected Luger for the HOF now. TK should still let him do it.

Joe Donovan

I can't imagine a world where AEW would ever prevent him doing that. They love him, Tony loves him, I don't think there'd be any issue

Stuart Beresford

Tony has been okay with his talent appearing for this, but WWE don't like his conditions on it. 🤷

Ryan

Of course Tony will not stop Sting from going, if it were the other way around I wouldn’t expect it whatsoever

Fletcher DeRouen

Lose-Lose situation. As WWE tries as hard as they can to sabotage AEW PPVs, AEW either has to choose to look weak and allow Sting to do this, or look like assholes.

Ricky

Let Sting do it. But I'd push to put together an AEW hall of fame and induct Mox and ask for Seth to induct him. Let's see how that goes down

Kiasyon

If Sting ends the WWE and AEW beef he's gotta be a triple HOFer

Will Landrum

I would hope Tony wouldn't have a problem with it. I know he didn't initially, but he's kinda become a little bitter the last couple of years (understandable why. But still)

Fletcher DeRouen

WWE is actively trying to kill AEW by announcing as many shows at the same time, or in the same area, as AEW. There's no making a relationship there.

Stalla

WWE has done so much to harm AEW, that AEW should not let Sting go and due the HOF. Why be nice and helpful to people who have never returned the favor.

Fletcher DeRouen

I saw someone say that Seth inducting Mox into the first cycle of an AEW hall of fame would make sense. The other option would be a one off Cody appearance for a founding Elite induction.

Marc Opps

Sting has gone out of his way for decades not rock the boat with WWE in any of his stops. I think Tony will be ok with and could probably use it for AEW's benefit.

Ryan

Because AEW wouldn’t be doing it for WWE they would be doing it for Luger

Waltrezel

Kill AEW😂😂?? AEW is an established company they will never be killed. I think people forget that wrestling is an industry and in industries there is competition between different businesses. And in this case there is a lot of competition.

John Horton

Done so much to harm to AEW by... beating them in the ratings as a result of putting on programming? By signing free agents? You expect a company not to do those things to return some kind of imaginary favor?

John Horton

If I remember right, Tony Khan wouldn't allow Billy Gunn to appear for the DX reunion at the HOF a few years ago and his bitterness has probably quadrupled since then.

Will Landrum

I seem to recall Tony asking for a reasonable concession and WWE shutting him down. You cant be a beggar and at the same time act like a Lord.

Chocobo_Sage

Hope Sting does it, it would be great for fans and obviously means a lot to both Luger and Sting. TK being a WCW fan, hopefully it happens. Honestly he'll look like a dick if he doesn't, and the bigger man for allowing it

Insomnia Inc

It's not happening, but if it did the new day vs the bucks is the only match i really care about.

Ryan

If you don’t think WWE has consistently tried to harm AEW then you may be blind

Stalla

You recall correctly he just wanted it measured that he was an AEW star.

Lynchman

As I recall, Tony wanted a mention that Billy was with AEW. WWE said absolutely not, so Tony declined the request. Nash wanted to attend Sting's retirement, but said he could not because of his legends deal with WWE.

Will Landrum

It's all a shame really. Like, just let the Old Heads ride into the sunset with their friends and rivals of Decades there for the goodbye, you know? There's plenty of time for petty squabbling and fighting afterwards if they really can't just get along.

Todd Silvers

My guess is he’s referring to contacting contracted employees and seeing if they’d break their deals with AEW. Moxley, FTR, Swerve, and Jericho are on record saying that HHH himself called them trying to get them to leave. Also, the report that Penta was telling the locker room he and his brother had already agreed to the frame work of a deal with WWE while still under AEW contract.

Steve Gargus

I think Tony will be OK with it

Luger was at Stings retirement match at Revolution. I was sitting a few chairs away from him. I don't think they allowed him on camera but wwe still allowed Luger to go. If Lex wants Sting just call him Steve Borden and let him induct his good friend. Rhea was at Buddy's Australia match. Bayley & Naomi were at Mercedes debut in AEW. Wwe counter scheduling AEW every time they can doesn't help though.

Stalla

Yet WWE wants to put Sting on their programming. Sting can go and watch but AEW should not allow him to be on camera. Treat people they treat you Nick is actively trying to put these people out of business. Why should they do anything for them?
