A top AEW talent is in a big year in her career.

Fightful Select has learned that a number of staff, wrestlers and higher ups in believe that former AEW World Champion Mariah May is in a contract year. Specifically, those that we’ve spoken to in AEW believe that her deal is up in the Summer. We’ve not learned if there are any option years attached to it, but one source in the company said they would be shocked if there weren’t as a deal this short is uncharacteristic for the push May got.

We’re told AEW is looking to retain her, regardless.

Word of May’s contract status has spread within AEW in recent weeks, following her AEW World Title loss to Toni Storm at AEW Revolution.

Fightful has reached out to Mariah May and reps, but they did not have comment. AEW does not comment on the contract status’ of talent.

She is poised to be one of the top women in wrestling long term just like Toni. Time to backup the money truck

Ameer Elkorany

Tony is a dummy if he doesn't back up the dumptruck of money at her house after the year she had. Also crazy he ever signed her to such a short term deal.

Matthew Hooks

Why would they sign her to such a short deal

Rob Iapicca

2-year deal? Seems weird

Nick_713

AEW needs to do absolutely everything in their power to keep Mariah…she became an immediate favorite of mine in the Women’s Division

Keith K

Maybe that's the deal she wanted. She was young & unknown to US audience. Why lock in to long term deal on a low price? Bet on yourself & renegotiate at a much higher price now.

Waltrezel

100% should resign her

Yeah she’s money, gotta be a top priority for Tony

Eric McIntosh

I'm sure TK will do whatever he has to do to keep her

ARose Lab

Hell yeah Mariah - she deserves whatever she wants .. she is one of the top talents and proved herself

I said this when Drew McIntyre & Kevin Owens deals where expiring with WWE at time if you think they are leaving for AEW I have some magic beans I’d like to sell you. My opinion on Mariah May is the same if you think she’s leaving for WWE I have some magic beans to sell you

I respectfully disagree with the suggestion that Mariah May is likely to stay in AEW. The motivations of professional wrestlers are often multifaceted and not entirely clear to us. It's also important to recognize that women's contracts are increasing, and exploring opportunities in the competitive landscape can be quite appealing. Her signing with WWE is a possibility

Lynchman

Unless the money is way off, she should stay in AEW. If she signed to WWE, she would be sent to NXT and I think it would be some time before she had a chance at a real push. I think AEW will offer more and she is just 26, at the end of her next deal, she might be in a position to command more money and to enter WWE on the main roster.

If Mina's coming over, I can't see Mariah leaving

I appreciate Mariah being called former “AEW World Champion”. I wish AEW would start doing that. Or call Moxley the AEW Men’s World Champion.
