Your early SCOOPS THREAD for WWE Backlash. We will add to this throughout the day

PLEASE BE COGNIZANT OF THOSE WHO WISH TO AVOID SPOILERS

  • As of Friday, John Cena vs. Randy Orton was the planned main event of the show, subject to change.

  • As has been the case lately, a sixth match isn't expected to be added, and no matches were planned on the pre show

  • WWE announced Michael Cole and Wade Barrett as the announce team.

  • Cathy Kelley noted that she's not going to be at WWE Backlash.

  • Most that we spoke to expected the show to be done by 9 PM local time, or 10 PM EST as the start of the UFC PPV is at 10 PM ET. TKO generally tries to employ corporate synergy there.

  • There were adjustments to the lineup as of Saturday afternoon. We've removed the lineup as a result, because what's the point?

  • WWE sources claimed that John Cena's beer bottle spot wasn't planned and that Cena improvised after that.

MID-SHOW NOTES

  • The June Saudi Arabia show is the only one on the slate this year.

  • Jeff Cobb has been signed for months. He's been on the internal roster for quite some time.

  • One WWE talent joked that "hardly anyone is here," when joking about how few people were needed for the show

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

  • Jeff Cobb has absolutely been discussed for WWE Backlash. As of Friday he was planned for the show.

  • Those that we spoke to claimed that John Cena's title reign was to continue into the Summer.

  • Cobb had been discussed for involvement with a Bloodline-related story at one point.

BETTING TIPS

  • John Cena retaining is our lock pick. However, considering the nature of his character, it's tough to say if he will "win," or will get DQ'd.

  • Dominik Mysterio, Gunther, Jacob Fatu, and Lyra Valkyria are our picks, though none are locks.

  • Some UFC picks as well -- Benoi Sant-Denis is our pick to receive a performance bonus. We have the "under" 5.5 on fights finishing inside the distance. Our best underdog picks are Aiemann Zahabi, Valentina Shevchenko, Alexa Grasso.
