Motor City Machine Guns have been released by WWE.

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley will be without WWE contract in July, where they’re expected to get interest from other companies. TNA sources spoke to Fightful and claimed there is always a home for them there, but that they expect All Elite Wrestling to be the eventual landing spot. We’ve not heard if AEW has made contact with the team.

Those that we spoke to in WWE said that the duo seemed like they knew they would continue to do well and stay busy outside of WWE, and will continue to wrestle. They also have a band, GRPPLNG , that they will continue work on. Those we spoke to said that they seemed like they hoped they would wrestle more in WWE, but were  happy they were at least being used. However, that seemed to slow down in recent months.

The two were not planned to travel to last week’s Smackdown tapings.

AEW did have interest in Motor City Machine Guns in 2024 and made the team an offer. However, we’re told that WWE matched the offer and MCMG ended up there.

Would LOVE to see them in AEW!

Is Alex Shelley still doing the physical therapy thing?

They knew they would always have a place in AEW so they went and worked for WWE for a bit. Good on them. They're gna be a great fit for AEW.

What's the value of going to WWE today when you have the idea that your job won't be secure and could cut you out of nowhere.

Scott George

No future planning on WWE part. So much you could do with them.

Thad Perkins

Weren’t they just starting a story with Candace and Johnny…?! 😒😒

Wrestlemania, exposure, and working with super young talent. That's about it

See you at All In boyz

If you’re lucky. Real lucky. Talent and dedication don’t even count for much anymore. Just ask Asuka or Iyo Sky. And those that DO make it to WM play second fiddle to ad breaks. Pathetic.

I don't even like WWE but this comment is spot on. Fortune and fame and accomplishing a dream. A little overboard acting like here's no reason to go to WWE lol.

Getting signed most anywhere else including a shit load of indie bookings. Oh and wrestling in front of thousands of people and getting paid more than you ever made in your life.

They will be debuting in AEW on the July 29th Dynamite in Detroit, a few days after they are clear. It's too perfect a spot for them not too.

A potential Wrestlemania moment, maybe even main eventing; being in a video game; a lot of time off to do other things like bodybuilding, etc. It was the only major wrestling co in the U.S. & Canada for a long time, so some wrestlers want to work at the same place their idols worked, regardless if they get utilized.

Lol, TK is pretty good at outbidding WWE. The reasons people choose WWE over AEW has more to do with the branding, "prestige," than the money.

Crazy. I would have at least sent them to Raw. Raw really needs some teams. Though I’ve started to get the feeling they may be getting away from these dedicated tag teams in favor of making teams of single wrestlers that are big stars like they have done with the women’s tag division. They dropped all the women’s dedicated tag teams and made pairings like Charlotte and Alexa, Bayley and Lyra and so forth…

Being on WWE TV allows you to charge more for your appearances at Indy shows and conventions. More than AEW. Also, you hope to win any title. And now they will forever be able to be introduced as "former WWE champions".
