WrestleMania-Ireland update (Patreon)

Last week,  a county Kilkenny Councilor (Maurice Shortall) in Ireland spoke with the Irish Mirror about the potential of Ireland hosting a WrestleMania in the near future, noting that Ireland is ‘well placed’ to do so.

Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan has learned more about proposal from those close to the hoped project, with the idea of WrestleMania coming to Ireland being considered a ‘long term project’, and one that can be achieved if the Irish government view Ireland as a ‘global sporting hub’. Those we spoke of actively dismissed concerns surrounding Croke Park residents, who have infamously come in the way of major events in the past, citing the NFL’s events at the stadium as well as the upcoming Manchester United and Leeds game in August.

Additionally, it is expected that Ireland would need to at least match the six million dollars Las Vegas bid to host the show, something which was seen as a major roadblock for the event by some sources we spoke with in the Irish wrestling scene, as well as Irish weather being an issue due to Croke Park not having a roof.

It was also estimated to Fightful that the event would bring in close to 300 million euros to the Irish economy.
