Keith Lee hasn't appeared on AEW programming since 2023.

Fightful has regularly asked for updates on Keith Lee since his absence started over two and a half years ago, and finally got an update recently. While we can't guarantee his current physical status, it was confirmed to us by AEW sources that Keith Lee was discussed for a return to AEW programming a number of months ago, that so far hasn't come to fruition. For those asking for an update, and the very least, a return has been discussed internally. We're not sure if that made it to him or not.

It was said at the time there were some tentative plans, but that that they would have happened by now if the were as originally intended. When we posted the teaser for the story itself, a number of wrestlers messaged us wondering what was going on. Keith Lee hasn't been a regular backstage at tapings, and we haven't heard that he's been around to get cleared, this is usually a multi-week process that leads to a return.

Lee remains under contract to AEW.

I would absolutely love to see him in the ring again, as long as it isn't at the cost of his health. Obviously both he and AEW are cognizant of that, so I trust the process. Still, I wish him good health and good fortune.

I feel like if he's been discussed for a return then it must mean some positive things about his wellbeing. My random gut feeling is that maybe he comes back with Swerve, it looks like there's a new Embassy happening. Maybe the story is that Swerve was the one who injured him, but Swerve was also the one to bring him back, and he works with Swerve because he respects the only person who was bad enough to stop him?

Which if the pattern holds for fightful reports he'll be back on Wednesday hah. Long as he's happy and healthy I'm good with whatever else comes to pass.
