Was the Ospreay backstage part of his entrance pretaped or was it live?
It was live. Originally, I heard the entrance was 8 minutes long on Saturday around the time the company did rehearsals. I loved it as it happened. The song, the voiceover, the cameos and reactions were perfect. Watching it back, the reactions seemed a little rushed, so I wondered if they had to blaze through it for time. I looked, and It ended up being almost 8 minutes to the second from the start of the narration to the start of Kenny Omega's entrance. It is one of my favorite entrances in wrestling history.
If you had a chance to interview a piece of wrestling memorabilia what would you interview to get an inside scoop? I always feel like if Flair’s robes could talk they would tell some wild stories.
Wow. This is one of the most unique questions of all time. I'll give you three.
The Big Gold Belt has to be one. The NWA Ten Pounds Of Gold would be another. The stories that carry from those two specific championships would cover decades. I think I would also go with The Undertaker's urn over Sting's bat because it carried over more time. But I think those three would cover a lot of NWA, WCW and WWF history and some untold stories that we've not heard.
You talk about AEW freezing contracts when people are out or injured. Do they get paid while it’s frozen and do they get paid when it’s unfrozen it? That seems like a way to game the system
Yes. They wouldn't be allowed to freeze the deals if they weren't paid. That would effectively be an illegal non-compete clause.
What are the chances you give of Bayley of re-signing with WWE?
I'd say there's a significant chance. Bayley is in a unique, bigger than her position to change the way that WWE contracts are negotiated. Guaranteed years, guaranteed money. She's going to get a big offer from AEW, have signings and outside appearances on the table, travel and hotel covered, and likely an easier schedule. Still, WWE can make a huge offer (if they haven't already) to keep her.
