John Cena Filmed Additional Segment For WWE In Tampa (Patreon)

A changed live event main event could have a lot more behind it than meets the eye.

Fightful Select has learned that WWE had at least planned to film something with John Cena and WWE United States Champion Austin Theory while Cena was in for the December 30 Smackdown show.

Theory was originally scheduled to main event the Toronto live event that night in a cage match with Seth Rollins. However, Theory was pulled from that show to travel to Tampa, where he was set to film a segment with John Cena. We aren't told if that was to be digital, for future use, for 2K, but the segment was filmed.

We can confirm WrestlingNews.co's report that as of November, there were loose plans for John Cena vs. Logan Paul to take place at WrestleMania internally, but two months later, we don't know where that stands.

Still can't believe that all WWE did when Theory was accused of pedophilia and threatening the victim to delete the messages was just to take him off TV for a few months as if it'd go away like magic.

I mean Justin Roberts as well has allegations against him as well. I’m guessing Austin Theory’s stuff either didn’t have enough evidence or she was trying to cash in

It didn't have enough evidence because he made the girl delete it all, remember? I imagine that AEW did an investigation into Roberts, but the fact that screenshots of those DMs exist say enough in its own right.

I’d much rather Cena v. Theory or even Theory v. Logan. Cena can lose to Theory but Cena losing to Paul doesn’t sit right with me. If Logan wrestled more I’d feel different. Logan should win his mania match but not against Cena.

I have zero interest in Cena vs Paul, at least Theory is a legit wrestler and would be a good match.

Cena/Logan would be purely for the social media crowd, but I can see them doing it if Cena is available for a night in April. They can comfortably be the semi-main on a 2-night show.

I am not surprised they did this. They are totally telling us we are going to see Cena vs Austin Theory with Austin Theory yelling THE CHAMP IS HERE.
