CM Punk is headed back to All Elite Wrestling after being out for over nine months.

Immediately after AEW All Out, there were numerous wrestlers that said that they would have left the company if Punk was back. Most of those were tied to his words at the scrum as opposed to the brawl itself, of which we’ve heard that Punk would apologize for the former. Since it became abundantly clear that Punk was coming back, we haven’t heard that there are any walkouts planned. Things have absolutely cooled off.

AEW has taken measures to make sure as  much talent that do have issues with Punk (or other talent, for that matter) are kept separately as a part of the brand split. One of the ways that this deal came together was Ace Steel being brought back to the company. While most that we spoke to felt like this situation would not have blown up as much if Ace Steel wasn’t involved, there were numerous sources who said that Steel’s skill set was underestimated by many they’ve seen online. Steel was seen as a valuable member of the AEW team prior to Brawl Out, as a creative mind and a coach.

Originally we’re told there were heavy pitches for Chris Jericho to work with CM Punk, but we haven’t heard anything new on that front for quite some time. Fightful reported that Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk was planned at one point, which we have heard was still in the works. However, of late, word is that CM Punk has taken a liking to the work of Switchblade Jay White, and that he could be an early opponent or program with CM Punk along with Bullet Club Gold.

We’re told that despite it was largely assumed that CM Punk’s return would be the May 31 announcement by Tony Khan, almost no one was outright told that prior.

CMFTR VS THE BANG BANG GANG??

Niners94

That’s compelling tv if Jay White is involved.

Ace Steel. Hell of a guy.

Works for me! Not exactly the reason I’d want a brand split, but at least it actually makes sense! Lol

@p_wol

As a fellow Kiwi 🇳🇿, I'm stoked for Jay White to get that opportunity across from Punk!

slick

I don't think they made the brand split forthat reason but it seems to have worked out in their favour.

I feel Jay white would need to be heated up more for that to be a bigger deal.

Punk vs. White will be amazing. It makes absolutely 0 sense the people who have said that White should have been pushed to the moon immediately upon entering AEW. While most of us know who he is, you still have to introduce him to the US audience as a whole. And besides, hardly ANYBODY gets pushed to the moon right away in AEW, as they shouldn't be.

I totally get the Ace Steel thing to a point. He was there for a long while, people knew him and how he did his job, it's probably easy to find people who support him. The point I get off is how it feels.... Unprofessional (? Maybe there's a better word) to bring back a guy who assaulted someone else who still worked there in a company setting. Maybe it makes sense in the room and Kenny gave his blessing though, who knows.

Just imagine Punk joining bullet club (gold) a faction made famous by the Bucks!!! Yikes

FWPJR.

I really think he needs to be brought back as a heel, after that mixed crowd reaction he got after he was announced for Collision I can’t see him being a top face anymore. Plus I don’t want him to come back and act all happy and try kissing up to the fans, just have him be himself he can easily be the top heel on Collision. And a Jay White feud sounds fun, but I’d rather not watch Jay get beat by Punk. Tbh I’m not really excited about his return, but as long as he doesn’t cause problems and can actually help the company then it’s good for AEW.

FWPJR.

If you think the Bucks didn’t help the BC get famous then you must not have been paying much attention

S B

Ain't no one denying Prince's contributions especially me as a fellow Irish man, Fergal has taken Irish wrestling to great heights BUT in relation to this topic the Bucks...hell now I'll go all in (pun intended) a faction The Bucks, Kenny and Hanger all made famous!!!

Exactly. My brother (consistent AEW watcher) asked me who TF is this Jay White guy and why does he get to fight ricky starks? He’s grown amazed by his talk and his in ring work. A lot of that is thanks to how AEW has BUILT RICKY to be this upper mid level guy instead of lower card. Jay needs to be built up to this audience - we are the bubble after all

Jay White vs CM Punk 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Punk returning IS best for ALL parties concerned.

CSDX

This comes off as if Punk is too stubborn to make amends with everyone that has beef with him, so they just set things up so they don't interact with each other. I'm saying what it comes off as to me, mind you, not claiming that's what it's saying.

e d

it might be more complicated than that due to lawyering etc, an apology could be interpreted as an admision of guilt which could open him up to a lawsuit and maybe the other side just wants nothing to do with him.

CSDX

That just makes it sound like Punk has no conscience and is more concerned about legal fees than being a good person and admitting when he's wrong.

William Rosmer

you could also potentially read it the other way that the others are not interested in working with him regardless of how much he apologizes/what he apologizes for

CSDX

Yeah, but I feel like Punk being too stubborn for his own good is a lot more realistic than everyone else in the company being out to get him.
