WWE is looking to add to their Day 1 edition of Raw.

Sources within WWE, while speaking vaguely, claimed that the company is "on the one yard line" in landing a former WWE Champion to appear on the show, and they feel confident they can get the deal done.

We haven't been given a specific name, but were told it was someone not currently on their roster.

It's worth noting that "former WWE Champion" was the terms used by those sources. We asked if the name was one that was active or a retired talent, but weren't given that info. We'll continue to work to provide some more details as we get them.

Hope it’s a Big E return, even if it’s not in a wrestling fashion.

Geo

They gonna use the tush push?

Vin Pensabene

Hey, when saying WWE Champion do they specifically mean the WWE Title or just a person who held a championship in WWE?

Mark lacking

Hope it's Big E 😭 it's been way too long.

Marc

Brock

Joel Wood

I don’t suppose it was indicated whether it was a man or woman either? Although I assume it’s a man, I’ve been wrong before

Laquita Momon

I'm taking this as someone not with the company anymore, Big E is just inactive due to injury.

Tony Espitia

the fact that there’s no name for this former wwe champion rumor makes it even more intriguing

BG

Hello Sasha?

T Mar

I WALK ALONE……

T Mar

They are trying to sign someone to appear at Day 1. It’s a non active roster

A

Mercedes?

Stew Sizer

The wording of "Landing a former WWE Champion" and "Get the deal done" really points to someone not in the company. Big E would just need a phone call as he's still signed. I'd guess Cardona as they're not saying what champion

ultimoaden

My guess is it's Brock..It's been awhile

Chris Parrey

He said not long ago his next neck scan is in April 2024 so he won’t be wrestling again till after that at least. I’d love to see him do some commentary or something though

Ali Khan

Sasha Mone Banks!

Cal

Guys it literally says NOT on the roster But the context of former WWE champion is 🤔🤔 Is it male WWE champion or just in general a WWE champion

thaddperkins

Could be. If he’s going into the HOF but he’s retired from being active in ring so I wonder who else it could be. This makes it sound like they’re adding another active talent to the roster and not a legends type of deal

karp

Goldberg

Evan Nelson

No idea. If it’s just a single appearance it makes more sense that it’s Big E than Sasha. Don’t think they’d want Sasha back for just one appearance unless it were the Rumble or Mania.

Matty Nice

Definitely won't be Goldberg, he is in Talks with AEW and is pissed that WWE didn't give him his retirement match like he wanted

Goku Kenshi

If it's just an appearance, I'm thinking either Batista or Kurt Angle. RVD? Probably not. It's definitely not Big E as he's on the roster. Mercedes doesn't make sense especially if HHH plans on having her at the Royal Rumble.

Laquita Momon

The report mentioned a deal so I wouldn't think they'd need to make a deal to get someone on their payroll to appear on tv. It's definitely someone not with the company anymore.

Elenicca Villarin

I was thinking BigE but IF HE ever was cleared and He'd want to do it again, it'd for sure be the RUMBLE, even though he's under contract

Troy A Palek

You know this for a fact? If so you should become a wrestling news writer and break the story. Lol

Chris Hohn

I’m just hoping it isn’t Vince, hogan or Alberto del rio.

Terps

Does Sasha count as a former "WWE Champion"?

Girth brooks

Lmao watch it be Mercedes😂😂

Steve M

If male Rock ? If female Rhonda ?

Tori Melching

Who is from or around the San Diego area? One of the Bella’s?

Christian

Probably Lesnar.

Michael Adams

Could be one of the dozens of 24/7 champions. Bad Bunny, maybe?

Chris Parrey

I’m thinking so too after they just posted the video of Brock vs Goldberg at WM33 on YouTube

ES

Why would they have to "land" Big E? He's already under contract. They'd just book him.

Tony Bologna

Sean, are you busy this morning?
