[WIP] Akali TCG Playmat (Patreon)

And so it's begun to take shape! 🥹

This time, I've decided to partner with the amazing @kgynh to help me complete this piece! There are too many things I'm working on at the moment and not enough hands to finish em so I thought this would be a good time to consider collaborating and I'm really excited to combine our work 🥰

The first 4 were sketches and thumbnails of some of my ideas for the tone of the piece. We chose the outdoorsy vibe.

Later, they came back with #5 & 6 as some lighting examples! We chose to go with #5.

#7 was their first development. Initially, we thought to go the typical League of Legends splash art route but I realized my art style faded out if we went that route so I made some notes for a new direction!

#8 was a quick dynamism and warp paintover. #9 was a sketch lineart demonstration of flow, shape and energy. #10 was a loose movement chart guide I used for the piece.

And now, #11 is their latest iteration! It looks SO good!!! I can't wait to see what they cook from here 🥹🙏

I was very hesitant in starting to collab with artists to create my merch, not because I don't want to work with others (in fact, quite the opposite), but because I think the product loses the "charm" of being made entirely by me and I'm not sure if you'd all be interested in that. I'll still always have a heavy hand in the work I present to you and I don't think that's something I'll ever change but, this way, I get to create more things because I have help and, as an artist, I get to share in the process with some very skilled peers that will also make the pieces even more beautiful.
