After the previous Dragon Emperor passed away, her aunt became the current Jade Dragon Clan Empress. Su Lanluo also became a Princess of the Jade Dragon Clan. During her study at the Cold Water Palace (Hán Shuǐ Gōng) (now Cold Water Academy), she became acquainted with Xue Xi (Xuě Xī) and they were classmates. However, Xue Xi did not favor her ostentatious style. Later, when the Blood Dragon Clan and the Jade Dragon Clan fell out, Xue Xi left the Academy. After passing the Academy Master's Test (an extremely difficult test that only masters of renowned families can pass, serving as the final evaluation to become a recognized master who can recruit disciples and establish a school/sect in the Jade Dragon Clan) and coming of age, she obtained an Immortal Island with the help of her Empress aunt, but she had no intention of recruiting disciples. Upon hearing the news that her classmate Xue Xi had met with misfortune, she went to visit and offer aid.
