This was one of the hypest episodes I've seen, the name drops went so hard! Also all the lore on the Fake Holy Grail War goes so hard.

Ah good sir. It appears you have misread Saber's spoken words. He said in the name of the founder of chivalry. He did not say it was his name.

The Einzbern lineage have already archived the Third. Is just that it was lost a long time ago. The Grial War was a way for them to recuperate that lost Magic. Also, I think you should tell people at the beginning or end of every episode to please be careful with spoilers. You see, Fate/strange Fake main appeal is that it have gigaton of references to the whole nasuverse. So knowing this community they are going to start explaining things and references like crazy. Among those references there are some that are spoiler since they are important plot points. So yeah, just ask them to chill, be careful with comments and ask them tolet you figure things by yourself so you can enjoy the series.

As someone that have read the light novel, your reaction was really good. Specially when you saw excalibur. And a story with a male king Arthur sounds hype.

Enrique Barloco

Oh... not King Arthur but he did gave gimself aways two times already

In Fate, Heroic Spirits are not always summoned from their real historical existence; sometimes, what is summoned is their legend itself. For example, in the case of King Arthur, the summoned spirit may be the real historical person, but in other cases it can be an aspect of the legend, such as Lucius Arthur or Roue Arzhur, figures whose identities are based on or merged into the Arthurian myth. A similar case is Jack the Ripper, who can be summoned not as a single historical individual, but as a manifestation of the urban legend and collective fear surrounding the name.

Enrique Barloco

All of that is true, but that's still not King Arthur, if you pay attention, as I said, he already gave away who he is twice

I’ve already read the light novel, so there’s no need to explain it to me. I omitted Saber’s true identity on purpose. My point was that, in Fate lore, Arthur Pendragon is both a real person (Artoria) and a myth, and that the legend has been fused with other figures, something worth keeping in mind.

D. L. Pulver

I think Saber is NOT actually Arthur Pendragon! New Saber didn't say he was Arthur, he said Arthur was the "foundation of our Chivalry" suggesting he's a later English knight or king who inherited Excalibur. His reference to Assassin being "faster than Locksley" point to someone whose story is associated with Robin of Locksley, better known as Robin Hood. There's only two British kings who fit: Richard I "the Lion-Heart" and his "wicked brother" King John. This Saber most likely is Richard due to the lion roar of his phantasm and his immediately connecting Assassin to the Old Man of the Mountain. In history, Richard I and the Old Man of the Mountain dealt with one another when Richard was fighting in the Third Crusade. (Never thought the university paper I wrote on the assassins in my Crusader Studies class would apply to anime!) So, I think he's Richard the Lion-Heart, one of the greatest English warrior kings. Enjoyed your reactions - I hadn't made the Fate Prototype connection!

Excalibur was never inherited. In Fate lore, it’s removed from the human world and rests in Avalon rather than being passed down to later kings.

Yep… this comment section is what I was talking about in my previous comment… Guys, shut your mouths. Let him figure things by himself oh my fucking god man. Unbelievable

アート 金

Shut it. Don’t tell everyone he’s a humanoid personification of the Excalibur sword.

+1. I don’t know what’s fun about spoiling the story

Well, King Richard the Lion-Hearted was the only English King other than Arthur to supposedly wield Excalibur in "real history" (even if the story might be a legend). Arthur's grave in Glastonbury (same one we see in UBW) was allegedly opened during Richard's reign, and he was given a sword found there that was identified as Excalibur. He kept it for a while before giving it to frenemy King Tancred of Sicily (in part in exchange for a treaty and release of Richard's imprisoned sister Joan, but some say the reason was to have Tancred use Excalibur to knight Richard's nephew, who had been named Arthur... and would then receive the sword, bringing a new "Arthur with Excalibur" back to England). That didn't happen due to various reasons; the swor's fate after that is unknown (back to Avalon?) The point is, King Richard had Excalibur as part of his actual legend just like Arthur did, so it seems logical for his heroic spirit to wield some version of Excalibur as well.
