That was a very crazy and frustrating episode, many thoughts going through my mind here.

Counter Force

Ngl, this arc is one of my favorites. Cannot wait for the next one! Also, notice how Eris is one of the best representations of a Tsundere. Someone that was pretty agressive at the start and now is just a sweet girl to Rudeus.

Capt'n Ren

Hope someone has mentioned that the OVA is to be watched either next or after the next episode for storyline reasons.

Capt'n Ren

Since the show will never explain it, there is lore for why the warrior chick is in bikini armor. Her and her sister, who is the mage next to her in full robes, were teleported together, where later men assaulted them. Her sister now has trauma and doesn't want men looking at her, so her sister wears that armor to draw all eyes on herself to help her sister.

Capt'n Ren

My only push back is how would Rudy know that he could write a letter from the demon continent and expect it to reach his family? They also wouldn't have even been there since his home is gone. I think, him thinking to send it as soon as he reached "human territory" is very reasonable.

The Dude

I mean if he didn’t know that would mean he didn’t ask. He’s had plenty of chances. But no I think the more obvious problem is why would he assume that the teleportation incident effected the whole region. As a viewer I thought it was just that immediate area and we hadn’t got any info since then.

Capt'n Ren

Just because he had chances to ask doesn't mean he would have thought to ask. I agree that is the more obvious problem that Rudy didn't bring up the fact he had no idea others got teleported and had no reason to since he was at ground zero. I chose to respond directly to him about letter situation though.

Paul

It was previously mentioned and he said "I'll definitely watch it, but not sure when yet." He knows if he choses to, splitting episode 16 and 17 might ruin the story's cohesion. He will probably watch it after 17 or 23.

D. L. Pulver

That's the key point. Neither he nor Eris had any inkling that anyone other than Ghislaine had been affected. I suppose they could have speculated on it, or Geese might have bothered to mention it to Rudy in the time they spent together.... (assuming he knew of the mana disaster, but given he thought he recognized Rudy's name, I assume he did and Paul had asked him to search at this point). [It's a bit more plausible, I suppose, that Geese had got a message from Paul without details.) The mana disaster was, however, likely big news in the parts of the world that Paul had been searching, but not so big news (i.e., Rudy never ran into anyone who mentioned in it) in the regions he was travelling through. So for Paul it was "this huge event" so he assumed Rudy must have heard of it. Rudy would have been better to point this out to Paul, but of course he was blindsided by the news of the mana disaster in the first place.

Capt'n Ren

Ok cool. Not sure splitting 16 and 17 would ruin the story's cohesion since the show has already done this style of storytelling once before.

I really like how balanced you were between Paul and Rudy's perspectives. I love how two parties can both be right and still fight, that's part of the complexity and the beauty of human interactions. Just one thing: you mentioned multiple times that Rudy didn't "write back". If my knowledge of english is right, that's a synonym of "responding", so it implies that by "writing back" you actually received and read a message in the first place. Roxy did see the letter, Rudy didn't, so he couldn't "write back". As many already mentioned even in future reactions, Rudy's biggest 'sin' was assuming the mana disaster didn't involve a greater area, hitting his family, and (to me at least) it was a pretty fair assumption from his POV. He still could have tried to write something to his family but not writing to someone isn't as bad as not responding to someone. Like not texting to an old friend and not texting them back while leaving them on read, two very different levels of "bad". As I said, I still really liked your interpretation, even if we don't agree on every little thing (and it would be boring if we did). End of my blabbering.

I am so behind on these reactions…. Man, one of the things I hate about this episode is how almost NO reacter realize that Rudi had NO reason to think anyone except Ghislaine, Eris, and himself were affected by that teleportation. He knew nothing about how huge the AoE was. I’m so pleased to hear Amat acknowledge the fact.

16:00 Writing to Paul before getting to Millis would have probably been pointless. He waited until the y got to human territory because the Demon Continent doesn’t have a good mail system. Waiting was the best choice.
