So, Girls und Panzer: Princess Samurai or Ribbon Warrior..., one of the multiple spin off manga Girls und Panzer has had throughout its relatively long lifespan already. Uhh... first about the name, Ribbon Warrior was the original fan translation of this (it also is somewhat in use now officially in the copyright text at least - it saying "GuP Ribbon Projekt" since the original Japanese is Ribon no Musha romanized). But the officially intended translation is Princess Samurai which in itself is officially a reference to "Ribon no Kishi, an Osamu Tezuka manga" (quoting the fansubbing team on that). This spin off was originally created by Takeshi Nogami, one of the original Character Designers of the franchise, as well a highly supportive Military and Historical Researcher in Takaaki Suzuki who also wrote some of the scripts for GuP OVAs (including the Anzio battle OVA) and follows a very different tone and style than the main series as you saw... that seems to be a general thing with these spin offs that many make their own feeling and vibe to their stories. The original manga is also finished! This pilot here was made to gauge fan reactions and demand for a real adaptation of this manga in anime form and produced by studio Actas just like the main series (I am not sure if it did get the reactions to warrant it myself). Originally shown right after the final part of the theatrical release of the first GuP manga spinoff anime adaptation for Motto Love Love Sakusen desu (one cannot translate this name well)... which is currently also being fansubbed and in wait for its final part/episodes to come out outside of theatres to be fansubbed (as of right now when writing, 8 out of 12 episodes have been for that).

Regarding the GuP Drought, Theres also the chance of reacting or watching Girls und Panzer: Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu! Wich is a series of OVA that came out recently Altough theres almost no tanks and its focused more on the comedy/slice of life aspect its worth a watch for the character interactions
