ViVid was originally a manga. The anime adaptation only got one season, so unfortunately it could not adapt the whole story and ended with a "read the manga" ending. ViVid Strike! is an original anime and tells its own story, though it takes place after the events of ViVid.

ViVid even ended up in a cancelled Season 2 status from what I heard - one which was originally teased for 2017, but never came out.

Some slight information now for this season Vivid strike takes place a year after vivid. Einhardt is the under 15 world champion which is separate from the intermiddle championship. For those who care, i will give a breakdown of the remaining Nakajima gym members matches from the intermiddle in a reply to this once I verify against the manga.

So yeah, now here's Vivid Strike, not Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Vivid Strike, just Vivid Strike. It does not have Nanoha in the series name, and it does not have our iconic VAs singing the OP and EDs. Our new protag is Fuuka and that always bugged me, it feels like we did not get enough of Vivio and Einhart as our main duo and we just move on to this. Even if they didn't do the rest of Nanoha Vivid, Nanoha and Fate had 3 seasons of being headliners together. I never looked into it but I always imagined that the creator Masaki Tsuzuki watched some sports anime and got really hyped by it and that's how these last two seasons came about. It's not even just these, after this he also made Extreme Hearts, which is ANOTHER girls sports anime.

Regarding the nakajima member's matches, Vivio vs. Miura: Vivio lost to a full power sword draw from Miura Rio vs Harry: Harry wins; both member's fire attacks cancelled each other out, harry had been working on lightning resistances in anticipation of fighting Victoria. As i Know, A1 brought the copyright of the whole ViVid manga, they animated 1 season and never continued (if you look the anime list animated of A1 you can see they never finish an anime, except maybe SAO), at 2019 when the movies where finished by Seven Arcs, they published that they were working on a new Nanoha proyect, but in 2024 in the anniversary they made a series of the 2 first movies (literally they cut the movies into a parts of 20 minutes). That was a deception and in december 2024 they announced the creation of a new manga and it will be animated. I think the proyect they announced in 2019 was the continuation or remake of ViVid, but they cannot get all the money A1 wants for the copyright, my guess is that Seven Arcs sell the copyright of Chained Soldier after 1 popular season instead of continue the animation and get more money.

Now About ViVid Strike, i think is a good anime (there are things i dislike, but is fine, nothing is perfect), the first episode is a nice introduction about the story, and as always, is well directed, animated, and writted.
