Drawings made on this day in past years:
2018 Swagger: Digital color over pencil and ink drawing, of Swagger of the Battlestrumpets studying up on ass-kicking. I did some selections and shading over the line art to get smooth skin textures in this one- I think it came out pretty well.
2018 Swagger: the under drawing for the first image. I obviously did not plan this drawing out, as you see the front cover of the book on the back side, so I flipped it when I started coloring.
2008:
Bisleyana: tinted pencil sketch of a Simon Bisley inspired skull-helmeted, face-painted, thigh-belt-wearing bad-ass lady.
Head phones: pencil sketch of a big strong woman rocking out to consciousness raising tunes.
Slim: pencil sketch, where I am, as I note: "Practising drawing slim gals for Sammy Speed". Sammy Speed was the college soap opera thing I was penciling for Chaykin (see archive for Feb 13th). I remember now, it was for Nivea for Men, which my wife always thought was funny.
Troika: pencil sketch. I suspect this was more practice for drawing slim girls, but as you see, I lost the plot by the 3rd lady.
2009:
Supergirl Phenomenon: Full color commission, showing the chaotic moment when every woman on earth simultaneously transforms into a big strong superheroine. I love this one- it was a huge amount of work, but it has a very fun feel for me.
Supergirl Phenomenon Inks: the linework for the above.
Merwoman vs Police-car: Ink commission of a buff merwoman merwomanhandling a police vehicle.
Merwoman vs Truck: Another ink commission on the same topic of Merwoman vs vehicle.Aurora: Tinted pencil sketch- I think an art trade with Redsilver- of his character Aurora, who uses an array of masks to communicate with mere mortals.
Tauren: tinted color sketch, also probably an art trade, of a Warcraft minotaur lady.
2011 Longneck: pencil sketch of a lady with Modigliani-style long neck.
2014:
Superman Sketches: pencil sketches of Superman made as I prepared to draw some fill-in pages for Action Comics. I think this was New 52 era Superman, who had a costume covered with (to me) annoyingly complex armor seams.
Buck Rogers Cowboys: Ink and pencil sketches. At this time, I was working for Chaykin, who was drawing a Buck Rogers miniseries. I was mainly tasked with creating Sketchup models for airships, but I had an idea for cowboys riding horses outfitted with rocket packs, which I am sure would be completely nonfunctional.
Wilma Deering: Ink drawing. I did get to draw some pin-ups for the Buck Rogers series, one of which was a Lt. Deering drawing. The theme for the series was kind of postapocalyptic americana at war with itself, hence her cowboy inspired gear.
2024 Conan and Belit: pencil and ink rough sketch, drawn while preparing to draw a sketch cover for Four Cover Fantasies' art auction. they hold it every year, tons of sketch covers auctioned to benefit Winchester Virginia area literacy programs.
2025 Alt Karmella: ink sketch of Boboy's Karmella in a femme Mardi Gras mode. This is a reworking of a pencil rough that I didn't use for a commission, I think.
