Kelly the young girl in the beginning of the show she was really loosing her hearing in real life at this time . The producers asked her permission to have this happen to her character in the show at first she didn't want to because she said it was personal and emotional for her but she obviously agreed so how it's written in the show is based off of her real experiences throughout the show and the moments with Connie her sister in the show trying to make her feel better all that was real emotions
