Hi everyone! We finished Firefly, so of course we watched Serenity! Also, this movie will be made available to the Salted Nut tier as well, as it belongs with the series.I'm so glad they got to make this movie to tie up all the loose ends. And it was sooo much fun getting to see all of the characters we love, in a very different way. Thank you for letting us know about this movie... the series would have not felt the same without it!

This was a great way to not only showcase River's past but to also let Summer show off how badass she is! So many great moments in this film, it's hard to count, but not as hard as saying goodbye to Wash and Book both!

N.T. Stars

I went out with a woman named Miranda and showed her the whole series and Serenity. I told her "A lot of fans say they hear River's trigger word as their own name." When River whispered "Miranda," she freaked out for a split second and went "WHAT??". 😂 SO funny. I don't think I can ever watch that scene again without laughing.

There is a comic book Serenity: A Shepherd's Tale that reveals shepherd Books' backstory, in case that would be of interest

So please tell me you filmed the interaction afterwards when you explained Kaylee's comment in the bar. That being said, you guys should consider either "The Expanse" after this, or "Terminator, the Sarah Conner Chronicles"

FYI : During the last minute of the credits, there is an instrumental version of the TV show theme. Bonus, it is played by Brian Doyle-Murray. (Sorry. But, seriously, there is an instrumental version of the theme at the end of the credits.) Also, there is a series of graphic novels that are officially canon (with Joss Whedon's approval AND contribution), and as already mentioned by another patron, one of them is Shepherd Book's backstory.

This is one of my favorite movies. The visuals, and lighting are so good. There is something so beautiful about Rivers violence. Summer Glau being a trained ballerina really showed itself in this movie. I really believe this could be its own standalone movie without the series. Thank you for the video!

I'll offer maybe a unique perspective... I saw this movie in theaters before I'd ever seen the show, just based on pure word of mouth about how great it was. And it really works as a standalone story, I loved it so much even without the context of the series that I immediately went home and watched the whole series over the next few days. But of course now as a fan of the whole thing the movie is also the best closure we could have hoped for from a series cut far too short.

I thrid The Expanse, but wonder if Battlestar Galactica should come first.

Nathan Jasper

I second Terminator for Summer Glau

MaplenutsReact

Wait... Are you serious!? That sounds way too good to be true! I'm looking it up now haha

finally had time to watch this reaction, and was not disappointed! An amazing film, doing a stunning bit of storytelling that works for both fans of Firefly and first time watchers. And, i like the subtle items in the film showing Jayne's character development - his "turn it off" comment, or his dedication to getting everyone secured for the final landing without regard to his own safety. and yet, he's still the same cocky Jayne.

MaplenutsReact

Agreed! They did a really good job with his character

Alright, it's time for the movie! I've had a great time re-watching this show with you guys. You're good people, and are quickly becoming some of my favorite reactors. Reading past comments, looks like I'm in good company too. I'm excited to see what you guys pick up on and what you think about the closure of it all. The whole thing is a great re-watch, but it sounds like that's already the plan. Thanks again for reacting to this. Peace.

MaplenutsReact

Aww you're so sweet!! I'm really glad you enjoyed watching the show and now the movie too, with us ❤️

Blink

thanks, joined your patreon when i saw the first ep went up on youtube, who could wait that long, so ive speedrun the whole series with you in the past 3 days. thanks <3

Pickster

The show somehow makes us feel like part of the crew. Thanks for sharing my favorite movie and good wishes to the Halfling.

Mike

I'll fourth The Expanse

Matt Fong

Joss planed deaths so that there wouldn’t be more to not have to fight contract obligations

MaplenutsReact

Yeees!! I just added this comic to our Throne page haha. Thank you for the reminder ❤️❤️❤️

PKHill

If you go on YouTube to the end of Jen Murray’s reaction to Serenity, you’ll get more behind the scenes storylines directly from Gina Torres and Jewel Staite on what happened to Zoey and Kaylee after the events in Serenity. Time stamp 36:58. Enjoy.

Terry Yelmene

Such an incredible react and verse ride. Thank you!

Alan Kobb

Wait!!! THere's one more thing!! While the movie was being made, Joss Whedon did a viral marketing campaign called the R.TAM Sessions It is a series of videos that are now on YouTube of... Well, you should watch them and maybe do a reaction. They're about 15 minutes, so you can get through them pretty quickly, but they're wild and worth it! https://youtu.be/pFuwllLKdbE?si=zgZVAgYE4sShl4Fr

Alan Kobb

Task successfully completed, then. I'll be waiting right here then. Shiny!

Joshua Gideon

I really hope sometime you all watch react to the Buffyverese as it too is Joss Weaton

MaplenutsReact

It's definitely on our list. We want to watch it soooo bad haha

Joshua Gideon

Yay!!! If you do I’d strongly recommend as would most of the fandom that you try to locate an SD (Standard Definition) version as it is far far superior than, believe it or not, the HD (High Definition) version
