Hey y'all!

Last week's poll winner was The Exorcist! I am unbelievably scared, so thank goodness you'll be watching with us!

We're going against the spooky season grain with today's poll, and asking you which non-horror Steven King we should watch! Jordan's read the books for 2 of the 4 movies below, which always adds to the fun. So no matter what wins, we'll both be thrilled!

Believe It or not The Dead zone TV series is actually better than the movie even though the movie is really good

Rhiannon

Oh my. How does one pick between Shawshank and Green Mile?

N.T. Stars

It wasn't a misspelling, everyone. Steven King is the little known brother of Stephen King. He wrote Corrie, The Shinning, Cool Joe, and the Dork Tower series.

mikethemotormouth

Don't forget the widely acclaimed Adequate Gearspeed

Almost said where's Stand by Me then remembered you did it last year

John Colson

The Shawshank Redemption but then you need to watch The Green Mile as an added bonus.

Darian Harman

I am so not ready to rewatch Shawshank again. I still haven't been able to rewatch Schindler's List with you guys. 🫣

Jason McDonald

I know not many have seen it yet, but Life of Chuck was so amazing

Darian Harman

Ah, yes. The Shinning, because we don't want to get sued.

Brian Leonard

The Life of Chuck is my only option.

Jake Steffen

Honestly both Green Mile and Shawshank are the answer

Raven Dark

Correct answer: Shawshank and the Green Mile. Guys, which ever one of those two you watch, you're going to wind up with the vast majority pushing for you to watch the other. A reaction to both will happen eventually anyway. You're just delaying the inevitable, so why not save time and throw them both on your list from the jump? Okay, all kidding aside, I picked Shawshank, but if I could have chosen two, I would have easily added The Green Mile. It feels wrong to choose between them.

Brien

This will be a blowout and for good reason. :-)

Jay Johnson

I concur. Shawshank and Green Mile are both great

djKENTO

Life of Chuck had my jaw on the floor multiple times. Really impacted me. Hope you react to it anyway because it’s truly special.

Raven Dark

I almost said that about Misery, and then realized they said non-horror. I know, Misery is more like a thriller with some horror elements, but the tone probably isn't what they're after at the moment. LOL

Raven Dark

They don't. LOL We make them watch both.

Looked into his writing credits a little closer and found a handful of missed opportunities: Psychological whodunit thriller Dolores Claiborne(1995) Coming of age drama Hearts in Atlantis(2001) Sci-fi action The Running Man(1987) One of my faves, whodunit thriller Secret Window(2004) Crime drama Apt Pupil(1998)

I do have a sneaking suspicion this is because It and It Chapter Two were too much too fast. Maybe I'll just assume I was right again in recommending someone do the 1990 version first.

Guillaume Huet_rennibou

Both the Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption are in my lifetime top 20. Enjoy!

Stephanie Wahl

It won’t win this poll and I think Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption are lifetime must see type movies, but I want to also put a plug in for Dead Zone. It doesn’t get much attention from reactors but it’s well worth seeing.

Stephen* King ;)

Chryss Guiler

I hope you react to The Dead Zone eventually. It's a good movie starring Christopher Walken.
