Hi Everyone!Last week's poll winner was the 1990s! We're picking a movie recommended in the comments and going with The Mummy! The second most requested decade was the 80s, so we're making this week's poll 80's themed, and asking which of these is your favorite 80s coming of age movie? Also we see that the next highest share of vote is pre-80s movies, so expect a poll around that soon too!

Matt

None of these but I guess karate kid

Patrick R.

These are all great, but I had to choose Footloose. LET'S DANCE!

Darian Harman

Oh, dear, sweet Lord. How in the *&#@ am I supposed to choose!? Evil poll!

Nathan Jasper

Karate Kid/Cobra Kai marathon? 💪 🥺

inspectordh

Love Fast Times but definitely going for Footloose

Andrew R

Oh no, this is going to lead to Cobra Kai.... 😢

Alice Devilman

This poll is going to skew one way, but it would skew VERY differently if you only counted votes from us dinosaurs who were actually teens in the 80's. Also, it's criminal that One Crazy Summer isn't on this poll. If The Karate Kid ends up winning, please note, it's not a Lethal Weapon franchise. Watch I, II, and III and then STOP!

Clay F

I assume option in poll is The Karate Kid (1984), not The Karate Kid franchise. I voted The Karate Kid (1984). I would never vote for The Karate Kid franchise. For the love of god and all things holy, please require KK2 and/or KK3 to win a poll before reacting to them. KK3 is truly abysmal. IMDb 7.3, RT 90%, RT Audience 83% = The Karate Kid (1984) IMDb 6.2, RT 49%, RT Audience 52% = KK2 (1986) IMDb 5.3, RT 18%, RT Audience 35% = KK3 (1989)

Jeffrey Fisher

Karate Kid. Each one is a little worse than the previous one, but the TV show revival Cobra Kai is awesome if you are a fan. Not prestige TV by any means, but just good, dumb fun! (Feel free to skip all the movies after KK3, however.) Have you done a Western poll before? I thought of 4 great Westerns you could have in a future poll: Young Guns (Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland), The Quick and the Dead (Sam Raimi directed, STACKED cast!), Unforgiven (Clint Eastwood), and either Dances with Wolves or Silverado (I prefer the former, but I know fans suggested the latter when you did Tombstone.)

Tommy

Exactly

Tommy

Karate Kid Parts One Two & Three Leeds to Cobra Kai Series. Just Like Breaking Bad Leads to BCS. Can't do one without the other. So now you opened up a can of worms. Strap urselves in....It's gonna be AWESOME.

Tommy

Well, I agree to an extent. Even if you believe the rest was not up to par, they need to watch them if they are going to do the Cobra Kai series for character origins...and yes Cobra Kai is great.

Clay F

In a poll in which KK2 or KK3 are candidates, voting patrons may consider you input. Cobra Kai is great and can be watched without watching KK2 and KK3. The vast majority of people who watched Cobrai Kai did so without watching KK3. Cobra Kai is self-contained and gives more than adequate background for character origins.

George Roybal

Karate Kid is ok. Cobra Kai, stupid.

Alice Devilman

Footloose would be worth it just to fully understand the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas special and all the context thereof, but yeah, Fast Times got my vote. That movie launched more careers than a recruiting drive by the Screen Actors Guild. lol

pinkdino99

Head says Karate Kid. Heart says Outsiders.

Mike Milz

What happened to the Patreon version of Kingdom of Heaven?

NeitherRimeNorRaisin

It looks like the Karate Kid is going to walk away with this, but I REALLY hope you get to Fast Times at Ridgemont High at some point. Hugely funny movie, with a cast that is basically an endless stream of surprises, from the stars to tiny cameos.

Clay F

I am not sure I would vote for Cobra Kai (which is great) in a poll but would consider it, depending what are the other poll candidates. By the way, Cobra Kai can be watched w/o watching KK2 and KK3. The vast majority of who watched Cobrai Kai did so w/o watching KK3. Cobra Kai is self-contained and gives more than adequate background.

Clay F

I changed my vote from Karate Kid to Fast Times b/c I am so fearful that Karate Kid winning would lead to an auto-reaction to KK2 and KK3. Sorry for being repetitive.

ShadowDrgn

Really, never found anyone who didn't love Cobra Kai, I thought it was Phenomenal

Scott Lindsey

Seeing as you have already reacted to pretty much THE 80's coming of age movie The Breakfast Club and Fast Times while great is more of a late 70's theme..... It's a tough one, Karate Kid and Footloose were bigger hits BUT The Outsiders has almost ALL the massive 80's movie stars at their beginning.

Kenton Kruger

Fully agree Karate Kid should be a one and done.

Sam

Since you guys are entering the Karate Kid universe, you should watch Karate Kid Part 2 and 3 which then leads to a show called Cobra Kai that takes place 30 years later after part 3. Cobra Kai is a good show and a really good continuation after the three Karate Kid movies

George Roybal

We all have different tastes in shows.

Matthew Maxon

KK, outsider, footloose, fast in decnding order imho...

Rogue_ML

Ignore the haters of karate kid and cobra kai.. (or at least at the one loud one).. you will both enjoy the entire trilogy and the series..

James M

You've never found anyone who didn't love it? Okay... well I also don't think it's very good. Definitely don't love it. I think calling it stupid is a bit harsh though.

James M

"The Karate Kid" is pretty good even though it's extremely predictable. Pat Morita helps this film rise above mediocrity. His portrayal of the old mentor is quite good. Ralph Macchio was never much of an actor and this is typical of his work. Beware of this 'gotta watch all the sequels' thing that pops up every time this movie gets mentioned. None of them are as good as the original, and the original is just a bit of light entertainment. I can't recommend any of the sequels. "Fast Times" is probably the best of these. The script is a bit light, so entertainment leans quite a bit on the performers. Fortunately there's a lot of acting talent in the movie. I watched "The Outsiders" a long time ago and all I can remember is it didn't really compare well with the book. That was very long ago so maybe I would revise my opinion if I watched it again. "Footloose" never appealed to me. The music was not at all my kind of music and the dancing was not at all my kind of dancing.

James M

If keeping count, one more that would caution against watching the sequels. They are not nearly as good as this one and not worth the time spent. Literally if someone said I could magically have the time back but no longer remember these movies I would take that deal in a heartbeat :)

George Roybal

You're right. I should of said " the acting, constantly changing story lines to keep the younger audience engaged, we're".

Clay F

Karate Kid 3 "Morita, who was Oscar-nominated for the original, remains a likable stick figure, but Macchio has gone from cute to typecast here, his waifish charm turned to gawky adulthood." Less of family film than predecessors. Plus, no inspiration. Further, recycles the basic narrative. Wearing out material.
