Dedra is working hard to get Syril trusted by the Ghorman Front. The ISB Tech sweep of his office and the Ghorman Front finding his Pre,Ox Morlana employment record had to have been Dedra. She’s feeding the Ghormans reasons to believe that Syril hates the ISB. Speaking of Syril and Dedra, their relationship is really creepy. Dedra looked like she almost resented having to let Syril give her a kiss (on the cheek, no less). She also looked like she was resigning herself to having to perform some unpleasant but necessary chore when she told him to turn out the lights. For his part, Syril really seemed to enjoy being commanded to turn out the lights. They’re weird. That was a great monologue by Saw. Another in a long line of great monologues in this show. I might have followed Saw if he made that speech to me.

I would watch a whole show about Dedra and Cyril's relationship, those fascinating weirdos.

Thank you for the perspective on the Dedra/Syril dynamic. This show and the actors are so nuanced with mannerisms that my autistic ass can't quite pick up on the cues. As crazy as it sounds and as much as I don't like bad people, I want everyone to find SOME happiness or love (the kind that's not at the expense of others) and I wanted Syril and Dedra to be happy with each other. Too bad Dedra seems too far gone into evil to really have a bit of real love in her heart, and Syril is too much of a simp to care.

I have probably said all that I can possibly say about how spectacularly well-constructed this series is. I mean, it's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy with X-wings. It's undoubtedly Star Wars, but with a voice; and it's not even remotely shy about having something to say. I can't help but laugh when it comes to Dedra and Syril, though. Kyle Soller is a handsome dude, and Denise Gough is a gorgeous woman, yet, they play their characters so well that when these two ridiculously attractive people even hint at any kind of intimacy, I'm just like, "Ew. No. Stop".

It's sooooo hard not to binge at this point. It's getting so good with all of the intrigue and the urgency to find out the Empire's immediate plans and their long game, and also what the embryonic rebellion (before it becomes The Rebellion) can do about the walls closing in on them.

Forest Whitaker is a lunatic, and he's so much fun to watch on this show.

I'm not sure Dedra knows how to love. Being raised by the Empire, it's not something they instill. (Maybe Syril's mom was right, actually, about missing a mother's love) It's why any gestures of intimacy are so awkward. It's possible she may like it, but it's so outside of her wheelhouse that she's not comfortable with it and may be annoyed with it most of the time, when she'd rather just get to work.

It would NSFW, there is no way that Syril isn't a pillow princess. Eager boy.

I love that whole monologue especially knowing all of the context of his character from CW, BB, Rebels, and Fallen Order. You can track his fall, and it is glorious and tragic in equal measure.

I love this episode and this season as whole. In particular how they keep adding layers to character that would have been glossed over in other shows. Wilmon and Kleya could have been one-note, disposable, characters but its like they are sculptures that performers and the writers keep adding clay, and refining the texture and detail of them. That level of care isn't reserved just for our main folks. After Luthen's introduction in S1, he could be reduced to just this ruthless spymaster but you can see the stress mounting, and the cracks in his facade more and more. It is especially impressive to me considering Stellan was dealing with some complications with his memory from a stoke, and he still going so damned hard. I love this show and I look forward to every Monday to re-watch with all of you.

"Revolution is not for the sane." Syril: If I say this is the greatest day of my life does it spoil everything? Dedra: It's good to see you happy.

I can never suss out if I am hearing a child, or a cat in the background 😂. (Or both?)

Joseph!! I have to disagree with your assessment of Dedra & Syril. Well, not disagree, just, I see it differently! I don't think Dedra resents Syril at all, although, she has no real idea how to behave "normally" anyway, she's never been "taught" how... But, the "Turn out the lights" scene, IMHO, is a pseudo BDSM, or at minimum, dominatrix tone of voice, the tone of voice, to me, signals, "Shut up, I'm in charge", not, "ugh, I don't want to do this". BUT!!! Hey, this is art, and we all see this ngs differently, no one is right, or wrong, just different pov.

There are many more phrases that I enjoy from this show than just "I have friends everywhere" (although I have a t-shirt with that phrase! 😂) "I'll see you along the way" is great, there are more, but there's time for that after the finale. 😉

Just a quick reminder: they built the entire Palmo square, and 75% of the building interiors surrounding it! The vast backgrounds, like the imp armory are green screen cgi, but so much else of this show is practical! Fun Fact!: radio crystals are, and have been, a real thing. As a boy, I had a little box of radio crystals to change out and listen to different frequencies!! They were also a thing in prior times that spies used.

Also!! The hand gestures, I believe the Ghorman palm-on-chest, waving outward gently as a firm of "farewell" is an amazing little addition. I wonder if it exists on earth? Maybe something from sign language, or a different that north-american culture?

Every rebel cell leader is both ruthless and paranoid, to a degree. They have all ascended to power seeing their own leaders and comrades perish to leaks, spies, miles, betrayals, and foolish undisciplined mistakes. Saw has a rich history in other Star Wars properties, his story is well known to some fans. He's totally insane 😂, but it feels justified, IYKYK. I do LOVE LOVE LOVE Saw using "Parsecs" properly as a unit of measure 🤣. A little poke in the eye to the Han Solo line...

Chemical fumes are dangerous, often caustic, sometimes painfully fatal. Huffing white-out, or whippits can give you a mild 'high'. I assume Rhydonium fuel fumes give you a little high in small doses, but I guess one can build up a tolerance? Crazy stuff, for sure.

I saw the first “Turn out the lights” as resignation. Thadman had some good insights. I don’t think Dedra feels real affection in a selfless way, so she doesn’t know how to express it. You’re right about the second “Turn out the lights.” That was pure dominatrix command, and was the one that made Syril smile.

Cassian isn't the end product we see in Rogue one yet, but you can see the progression, and where he is on this path. The way he switched easily between personas resembles Luthen's dual portrayal.

I love my Dedra Funko Pop. It makes me laugh. I need to find Cyril now.
