"I thought he was a main character!!" Welcome to Game of Thrones in space! 😂 There are more than a few parallels between the shows.

Joseph Olson

I was already interested after the first two episodes the first time I watched this, but this was the episode that hooked me. We start to get more information about the characters, some pieces start to fall into place, and things we were led to believe were true turn out not to be. We start to get answers, but one of the great things about this series is that it gives you the answer to one question but poses two more. You never feel like you fully understand everything that’s going on. Just when you think you do, it’ll throw a surprise at you that makes you question everything.

Especially the dragons!

Personal request, maybe for others too, put a second sync point in when the episode starts. Not every source has the recap in the front (at least I think it is the recap). Not a big deal just, ... helps. Edit: As for your predictions, not bad ... but you have a nack for understatement ... Boiling pot ... think waaaaaaaaaaay bigger

These first episodes do such a great job at world building, it really shows you the contrast between the power and callousness of Earth, the militarism of Mars, and the poverty and violence of the Belt. And yes, the actor for Dawes was the main scientist in Chernobyl.

Yeah, something is weird with the synching. There are two options I can find on Amazon for the Expanse season 1... one with the recap and one without...but for me the one with the recap also does an intro, which yours didn't. Not sure what is going on, but would be nice to have a second sync point, I agree.

Like all great science fiction The Expanse uses real situations with a touch of new science. The manipulation of poor countries for the benefit of wealthy ones is well known on Earth so what happens when we project these differing economies into the solar system? We get the Belt as a proxy for Africa; resource rich but economically no more than a huge mine operated for the benefit of Earth or Mars depending on the specific Belt station. We get a wealthy luxurious Earth which looks a lot like the US; plenty of wealth with the feeling of superiority and the self righteous image of being the source of all that's good and just. And we get Mars the militarized aspiring power; less like any one country but a little bit like Russia and also a little like Israel. Now let's see if we can destabilize the political situation by inflaming the OPA. There are more things to come, but it all plays out against this political landscape that's as rich as any universe devised by Frank Herbert or Isaac Asimov. That's why Corey is such an effective science fiction writer.

Amos is my favorite character

Same problem, also some weird 2 or 3 second jumps, do we know what the exact source is for the reaction?

I've tried everything I can find on Amazon Prime, I don't know why they wouldn't stream it there if they are in America, but if in Canada, I suppose it might be a different source.

They are watching Blu-Ray copies. Either from "borrowing" or maybe whatever streaming service in Canada uses them, but they match my Blu-rays perfectly.
