The I'm a pretty boy but it's getting ugly line is from one of the enhypen songs (outside) Martin helped write. The song was supposed to be for them I think but ended up being given to enhypen

I hate that you feel that way about jungkook’s album :( But I understand where ur coming from and respect it. I think if you watched his documentary at a later date you’d understand a bit more about his thought process behind going completely western, he does talk about it in there. Loved this reaction!

13:04 You are so right though! Namjoon said in his recent live for his birthday that he knows bts’s purpose has changed, and he doesn’t know if it was for the better but he acknowledges the change and they’re currently trying to navigate through it.

Not gonna lie, I feel the same about how kpop has become so “westernised” after BTS’s success. But honestly, if you were a fan before 2015, you’d know kpop was never nice to any group outside of the big 3. Honestly it was always the same routine. The only groups that were successful were the big 3 groups every year like it was a game. this year SM wins next year JYP wins the year after YG wins, it was completely controlled by the Big 3 (SM, YG, JYP). I remember it was a trend for Koreans to say “if you’re not from the Big 3, you’re a nobody.” So being outside of them 3 companies almost automatically meant you were ignored or dismissed. The idea of a group from a smaller company breaking through globally (let alone on the scale BTS did) was pretty much unthinkable. BTS’s rise really disrupted that. BigHit knew they couldn’t compete head on in Korea, so they aimed to international audiences, and it worked. Ironically, that made Koreans finally take notice. It’s true that BTS only started getting serious recognition after the global buzz grew. That “outside validation” kind of forced Korea to acknowledge them, which definitely rattled the Big 3. Suddenly people were like, “wait, who are these kids that aren’t from SM, YG, or JYP?” Now you see SM (with NCT, Aespa, etc.) trying the “Hybe way” with Western promotions, but Korean fans often feel betrayed because they see the Big 3 as “Korean blood.” HYBE was always the outsider, so they could get away with going the global route, but like aespa promoting rich man in America, the reactions from Koreans are all one. "Why is SM trynna go for the western fans, don't they know SM powers from Korean audience, we feel betrayed" . You can see the kpop Knetz mentality. But yeah long rant short, I feel like hybe pushed for that westernised way cause mainly they saw BTS history and how everything happened so they are like FUCK the Korean society for never accepting us, we are fine on our own now we don't really need to go around begging , we will do things how we like and honestly I don't blame them cause even till now there is that discrimination about status and pure blood bullshit but it in the end it's sad how we don't get the OG music taste of the groups we loved back in the days. which is why i pray BTS finds their own colour cause its impossible to go back to the old bts days. just like us people change and bts has grown so much itll never be the same as they were back in 2015. but just hoping its not all westernised and they stay true to themselves as of now, whether people like it or not

I wish BTS’s most recent music is more acknowledged within Army. Boy with Luv feat Halsey came before ON and after the 3 English song run during Covid, they came out with the BE album and the 3 songs with the anthology album are an ode to their original sound, ex RUN BTS. (Which was the last music they put out as a group) Now everyone just says they became westernized pop because they only acknowledge that genre from them while ignoring everything else. I encourage ppl to rediscover their discography. They have 300+ songs don’t minimize it to western pop. In reality they wouldn’t be BTS if they didn’t experiment with sound. The Kpop industry forgetting their own roots because they were envious of someone’s western success is not BTS’s fault. Rn i think Cortis mirroring that legacy within Bighit and being involved in the making of their own music and being able to experiment with sound is great.

loving everything cortis is doing rn

Terry!! Haechan dropped a new MV and an album!!

So what you’re saying (12:00) bts open the door too much and obviously ppl looking up to them, they were inspired by bts. In bts behalf, they should’ve left the western music to the westerns. Those one or two westerns songs were all they needed. They were already famous. But then opening the door too wide for other bands that look up to them, was kind of shameful. And the way you’re looking it at is, oh you probably don’t like how it’s changed from then to now, but you shouldn’t take that out on these new kids that debuts into the industry. Because for all they know, they were placed in an industry already unorganized. They had no business involving in that change. So, what I’m saying is don’t let the way K-pop changed affect the way YOU view these upcoming groups. Because at the end of the day, they were just kids who viewed bts as their idols, now that they’ve debuted, they’re almost “forced” to go by the way of change in the K-pop industry.
