So Yijin (main boy) family is close to yurim family. Yurim family is poor and back then there used to be times were rich companies would sponsor an athlete cause they see potential in them. Yijin family was rich so they sponsored yurim that's why when they went bankrupt she had no sponsor and is kinda going through hard times at the moment continue her athlete journey. I think the “minor” was lost in translation a bit…. I think the translation was more like she’s a highschool student
