haha yes IU plays both the mom (aesun) and her daughter (their baby that’s shown at the end). I was also confused about a lot that was happening but like you said you just have to let it flow lolll also the girl that was drinking with IU and the mom in the “future” is IU’s Aunt (Gwank-sik’s little sister who was the one watching the swimming scene and said “brother took a splash”)

To wrap it up: IU (Geum-yong) in the present is actually the daughter of past IU (Ae-sun). So IU played two roles—the younger version as the mother in the past, and the daughter in the future. The woman who looked familiar (is from business proposal) is the grown-up version of the young child who is cousins to the main male character (bogum. Also, the issue about IU’s baby looking older than she should be is that the business proposal lady was explaining to IU (the daughter) how she came into the world. On the night past IU ran away, Ae-sun and the main guy ended up sleeping together and accidentally conceived a child. However, past IU didn’t know this and continued rejecting him. It was only after they eventually got back together that they realized she was pregnant, which is why the baby appears older than expected.

also just in case anyone didn’t notice, the narrator is actually Aesun’s daughter (“future” IU) telling the story of her mother

the baby looks bigger than it should because by the time gwan-sik jumped off that boat, she was already pregnant. they "got busy" when they eloped in busan and before they got caught.

When I saw clips of this series I thought it was more somber, serious and sad. Some moments was not what I expected but I’m not mad 🤣🤣🤣

I love how you went from frustrated from the back and forth in their relationship (understandable) to having an epiphany that Ae-Sun just wants Gwan-Sik to live his life lol
