The warm morning light was beginning to filter through the windows of the Broken Tower, causing her to open her eyes slowly. As she turned her face, a contented smile spread across her features and a feeling of warmth enveloped her completely when she saw that Daemon, now her husband, was lying beside her.

Daemon, already awake, greeted her with a loving, innocent smile, trying to hide the fact that he’d slipped out in the middle of the night to have his way with Catelyn. Leaving his wife to sleep peacefully alone in their marriage bed.

“Good morning, my Lord husband," Sansa greeted him with a broad smile, her voice soft and hoarse from her recent sleep.

“Good morning, my Lady wife,” Daemon replied, returning her greeting with impeccable warmth as he gently brushed a strand of auburn hair from her face. “Did you sleep well?”

Sansa nodded without hesitation, snuggling a little closer to him.

“I’m a bit sore, but it was worth it. It was… wonderful. It felt better than I’d ever dreamed. It really was a magical night.”

“I’m so glad to hear that,” he said, running a hand gently down her back.

However, the glimmer of happiness on Sansa’s face faded abruptly. Her expression changed suddenly, clouded by a deep sadness. Daemon, noticing her change of mood, sat up and asked her.

“What’s troubling you, my love?”

Sansa didn’t reply with words straight away; instead, she clung to his chest, wrapping her arms around him as if she feared he might vanish at that very moment.

“I hate that you have to leave when we’ve just gotten married,” she murmured, her voice muffled against his skin. “We’ve barely had time to spend together as husband and wife. It’s not fair...”

“That’s just how things are, Sansa. Think of your father and Lady Catelyn – they got married, and almost immediately, Lord Stark had to go off to war. I may not be going to war, but this is something I have to do. Daenerys is in danger in Essos, all on her own, and I have to save her.”

Sansa looked up; her blue eyes misted with sadness.

“Would you do the same for me if I were in danger?” she asked in a trembling whisper.

Daemon smiled at her with feigned sweetness. He reached out, gently cupping her face, and leaned in to seal his words with a tender, deep kiss on her rosy lips.

“Of course I would. Without a doubt."
