My dad pretty much exclusively watches tiktoks that are split screen videos of the actual content on one side and just some random person usually inside their car reacting with their face or laughing on the other side. It’s incredibly uncomfortable bc usually the actual content side isn’t even funny to me and my dad is laughing and some random Oakley sunglass wearing dude is laughing and humor is just so far gone here to me that I can’t even fake laugh just for the sake of it. My sister scolded me bc I dared to ask if Oakley man was a necessary feature here. So .5 point to this creator for at least acting like a town crier even in a world where information is blasted directly into your eyeballs.

Correct. My partner just sends me the videos, and tells ME to check the comments. And i DO. Like, the app itself, (insta) fucking allows you to send the video WITH the comments??? so then these videos make even LESS sense. There should be some sacred-ness to creation, some sort of pride in your work, some kinda of sweat that goes into it... And i think this is just another ripple effect of gen ai, and many other factors. It makes me not wanna participate in it
