A Series of Changes to Motivate Me and Incentivise Myself to Produce More Value for Paid Members

Here are some changes I'll be making to my writing process. I'm doing these to make sure I stay motivated, since some days I'm just distracted or really uninspired—even when bouncing ideas back and forth with the AI.

I've realised something lately: I feel like my writing has stagnated, and I want to improve its quality further!

For the past few months, the only stories I've been exposed to were AI sci-fi stories from YouTube. Before, I'd finish 2-4 books/fanfics in a day—I don't exactly read, but rather listen to stories through a text-to-speech app, and to be fair, that was all I did all day, which is why I could finish multiple. Since I've stopped consuming new things, that may be the reason for what I think is a stagnation in my writing. At least, in my opinion.

Recently, I started playing Arknights OG, and reading the latest Zima Alter story made me want to improve my writing style even more.

As you may have noticed, my chapter production has slowed significantly compared to my previous daily output.

So here are the changes, along with my reasoning:

📚 Reading Goal: One Light Novel, One Popular Fiction, and One Fanfiction per Week

I want to be exposed to more ideas and writing styles. Currently, I'm reading W1NTERFOX's We're Not Really Doctors, which I think is an amazing read. I also plan on reading the Frieren light novel, recently finished the latest Reborn as a Space Mercenary, and there's the latest Danmachi light novel waiting. For popular fiction, I might read Percy Jackson, maybe Horus Rising from WH40k, and perhaps a Star Wars novel.

Please do recommend light novels, popular fiction, and fanfiction on Discord!

✍️ The 3-Day Rule (Modified)

Like before, I had the 3-day rule with allowances for free writes and extra chapters. Here's the modified version:

As usual, three days are allocated to finishing a scheduled story chapter.

If a scheduled chapter is finished early, I have the freedom to do any of the following:

a. Go straight to the next scheduled story.b. Do a double update, or write a chapter from any of my current stories.c. Actual free write—write anything: a one-shot, or any of the ideas in my Excel sheet of dumb story ideas. lol

I think this will motivate me to finish chapters early and inspire me to write what I want, which benefits all my other stories if I feel refreshed between scheduled chapters.

Note: My limit is always 3 days. If I don't finish a Free Write chapter in time, I'll upload the partial chapter and continue it the next time I have available time.

Note 2: Stories that aren't part of my Main, Side, or Spiced Stories are subject to my previous Free Write rules:

Normal Free Write Stories: All updates available to all tiers until the lead between Magus Tier and Public reaches 13 chapters.

Spicy Free Write Stories: All updates available to Caster Class tier and above until the lead between Caster Class Tier and Public reaches 13 chapters.

Once the chapter difference has been achieved, I'm free to give extra chapter access to Grand Caster tier. I will always try to maintain the difference between Public vs Magus Tier or Caster Class Tier.

🎨 AI Generated Images → Discord Only

As you've noticed, I've recently stopped uploading AI-generated images here, but I still want to play with my PixAI subscription. I also know that a Patreon notification might give you false hope for a new chapter. So I'm sending all of those to Discord instead—you can mute those channels if you don't want to interact with them.

I do want to commission art and maybe learn how to draw eventually, but right now my earnings are just enough to provide healthy savings and fund my hobbies. I plan on doing those in the future—especially when I start building the universe of my original story, which will probably start next writing cycle. Need more inspiration first!

😴 Rest Days

Okay, so usually I only take rest days after spending six hours trying to force a chapter and failing, which just makes me feel guilty for not uploading for you guys.

On top of this, I have Japanese classes every Monday (UTC+8), which usually turns into me trying to rush a chapter or an outline. With Japanese class, I really need to put my mind in a state where I only think in Japanese, and after class, my brain is just mush.

Having an assigned rest day means I won't feel guilty for not uploading—which I think is healthier.

As you can see below the schedule, Monday is now blotted out as a rest day, but there's a caveat for Tuesday. This incentive-based system should motivate me towards a better work-life balance and more writing:

If I finish a minimum of 3 chapters in the previous week (roughly a chapter every other day), I can take Tuesday off as well. So I'm motivated to produce more for you guys!

Note: I know that for some of you, my Monday is your Sunday, and you'd want something to read over the weekend. I currently have a few Japanese lessons already booked that can't be rescheduled, but once they're done, I can move the off days to Tuesday–Wednesday instead.

Note 2: I made the 1st hour start at around 11 AM because sometimes I need to get my mind into the right state—and what if I need to do groceries or have something IRL to handle?

Note 3: Don't worry about the scheduled eating. I'm on one meal a day—I've been doing this since May, and I eat around 1,800+ calories during that meal. I'm on a gradual caloric deficit because of my fat arse, currently around 70 kg and aiming for my previous 54 kg.

As you can see, the highlighted Side Story this cycle is Fate/Knights of the Heroic Throne, and the highlighted Spicy Story is Fate/Charm of the Devil Fae. All other non-highlighted stories will be updated at least once. I gave Ending Maker: Fate Wizardry two updates because I promised you guys an extra chapter.

I've also made sure that updates for our popular stories, like Oreseka and Kenmachi, aren't far apart, so you won't need to wait long between updates.
