The original version and recording of this song holds a lot of history, which I'll go through extensively when we reach the Captiva album period in the Echo of the Night series. But I wanted to revisit this song because it is among my favorites from our earlier works.

I recorded this song using a Rode NT4 on a Martin acoustic with some overlay of piano and light synths. For percussion I used samples I made of hits and thumps on the back of my acoustic and then processed with fx.

This is truly beautiful.

Love the extra synths and effects! The bridge being vaguely in the background is a nice touch too

One of my favorites from capvita and I love how this version lets the song breathe and really highlights the haunting aspects of the melodies. So good!

I remember sitting in my bedroom playing The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on my Nintendo DS with my iPod Nano loaded up with the latest album: Captiva (and Crashings, and Exit Lights). I ripped it from the CD we bought at a Christian bookstore earlier that day. As I moved onto college, Captiva was in regular rotation in my Dodge Caravan -- haha. I also remember the summer Your Sparkling Death Cometh came out: I was a college intern in the scorching heat of New Jersey and played the CD on my hour-long commute to work and back every day. Listening to that album reminds me of that summer to this day.

It’s like a Falling Up lullaby. Mesmerizing!

So familiar, yet so different :)

Absolutely beautiful! Will you ever put these reimagined tracks on an album outside of Patreon? I’d like to listen without having the app open haha

Tim Powers

That would be awesome!

Late to this party, but I must say, there's is something distinctly ethereal about hearing an old Falling Up song in a modern acoustic style. It's like viewing an old, fond memory through a fogged over window. Familiar, yet distinctly different. I love it.

Brings a new light to Captiva with a aeroptic sound :)

The slow attack on "Leapt before the fall" is a nice and soothing touch.

This acoustic version really grew on me. At first I kept comparing it to the original too much. But now I hear and appreciate all the subtleties.
