We will get to it in EOTN, but this song officially marked the beginning of the concept that turned into my sci-fi series CALYPSAN. The lyrics don't follow a specific narrative, so don't get too caught up on those, for the moment. For example "dreams" is used metaphorically and not to be taken literally. Back in 2004/2005, I didn't sit down to write out each song as if it were following a concept album. Instead, I created the basis of my story and used it as inspiration going forward. But with all that to say, when CALYPSAN eventually emerges as a sci-fi series (fingers crossed), I'm confident you'll make the connections! Even though I wanted to depart from rock for the version of this song, a simple acoustic wasn't enough to encapsulate the gravity I wanted to convey. I filled the space with one part chillwave and two parts lush orchestration. Nick Lambert sparkled it up with his jazzy guitars. Then, of course, I needed something to fill the narrative gap from the original vision to the current concept in the series, so I implored my daughter's help, and I think she nailed it. Hope you enjoy!
