I've watched the movie a few times (im a big joker fan, note the name lol), and i noticed something at the end, he says "its a between me and him" then cuts to bruce, the revolution happened and something started it but its more that he makes himself the center of it and thats the imaginary part, and he goes off his pills then starts becoming more of the ending movie joker after he was off them. so up until you see him take the last of his pills everything becomes fuzzy, thats when you have to start questioning whats real, everything before that was real and you can see it is with the pills and the people reaction to him.

Thank you Dylan. Your take a way was similar to mine which was this movie was not really a Joker movie. You could do this whole movie without the Joker, Batman, and DC bits and the movie can still work and if you can do that then the movie can not truly be considered a Joker movie. Nothing about it really screams the Joker except the stuff they put in specifically for that like him calling himself The Joker and if you can't think of him as The Joker without him calling himself The Joker then he isn't really The Joker.

There are actually two ways I know of to tell if something happening is real or not in this movie. The first is the love interest as any time you see her with him as his "girlfriend" it is obviously in his head. The second is the reactions of people around him for example if he is doing something disruptive and no one is showing a reaction to it then that is all in his head.

A final thing I want to say about this in regards to his multiple origins in the film and possibly even the film itself is that a famous line of The Joker's is "If I had to have an origin I'd want it to be multiple choice." and that kind of justifies none of the origins being real as he never wanted a real origin and potentially this whole movie is just another fake origin story he came up with for himself.
