Creator's Blog #3: "Things to come :D" (Patreon)
Content
Hello Everyone! Another Creator's Blog is here. This time, I want to highlight the incoming things I am working on, thinking about, and plan to do.
We must go deeper...
As you all know, I mainly do Souls and Souls-like on this Patreon and all my other places, with many Souls Assets and Renders here. However, like all things, I find that I need to eventually diversify, as I have already done before, just in a tighter way.
That being said, I will begin the work to make new Renders of different games. I had already done some, but expect more to come along the way. And at the moment I am looking at:
Marvel Rivals (Existing)
DC Games
Fallout (Existing)
Final Fantasy 7 (Existing)
Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy Series
Elder Scrolls
Tekken
Street Fighter
Overwatch
Witcher
Call Of Duty
Rainbow Six
More Souls likes (Lies, Lords, Nioh, Etc Etc)
Either way, I am looking to make more and more and more to keep things interesting and diverse. I have tons of models to use that are currently just... Sitting there, and I really want to do something about that.
Also, I have to acknowledge that in the process of doing a ton of things, it seems that several types of content have gone on without a update/new version. Allow me to explain a bit of the context behind it.
NSFW/SFW Comics
The simple reason for this is the amount of work I need to do for one of them. We're talking about render amounts in the hundreds in some cases. So it can be exhausting and draining. I had to scrap some of the planning due to this. Still, I wish to continue making them and maybe make smaller ones. (But this is impossible as I am a bit of a persistent freak >_< )
DAZ Genesis Models
Models that I have adapted for DAZ are... Difficult. I find them hard to deal with, so I paused making them and refocused on making DAZ outfits and props. Not to worry tho, I may resume them soon.
YouTube Skits
Good news on this, I have completed the Renders for the next Skit for Nightreign and will proceed with editing. After the next skit, I have to finish Raider's Skit and move to more ER and another COE33 one, then maybe a few new series to cover. Truth is, I got a bit burnt out on making YT Videos, hence the time taken between them.
Either way, I hope to improve on the output of this down the line. There's still a bit of improvement I need to make.
More Stuff! For Everyone!
On to some good news, tho.
As you are aware, I am continually working to provide more for members who have subscribed. This effort is continuous, and I seek more feedback down the line on what you would like to see. I need help on this, though.
Every comment and like helps me a bunch to understand what you like and what you don't care for. So do speak up in the comments or chat for anything, I am always watching.
But let's list down a couple of things that have changed or been added:
Animations are here! :) I wanted to do them for a long time, and now I can.
Early access was extended to 3 months to provide greater value to the membership tiers. This will only affect DAZ Outfits and scenes; props and standalone figures will remain freebies upon release.
4K and HD Renders. I made them as a means to practice rendering and keep warm on the creative side of rendering (NSFW is fun, but I still like to make art sometimes )
That's not all tho; I will be looking into a new type of content: Pin-ups for several characters. I have one new type of content in mind coming... I can't really say what it is, but for reference, remember The Witcher 1?
I hope to make these a form of collectibles if it works.
Rendering Thoughts: Model Parity
One thing I like to talk about with everyone is a fundamental rule I apply to all rendering work I do: Model Parity.
A rule of thumb that I follow to the T. The idea is that 2 models exist in the same scene. Sounds easy enough, yes?
Well... I don't think so. Because for me, Models that appear in the same scene must follow a similar/same art style and fidelity.
This essentially means they can "Fit" the scene without being too jarring to see. Of course, everyone can think differently and be ok with a Marvel Rivals Model being in the same room as an Injustice 2 Model, but for me, I could not really tolerate it.
Hence, workarounds are needed. Either I find a model that fits the other or recreate them to my liking.
In that case, don't expect me to create crossover Renders unless the art style is close enough to tolerate the jarring difference in quality. Just to be clear, though, I do not have a problem with other doing it, but I hope it explains my mindset on this topic.
"NO MONEY MEANS...! NO ANIMATION!!!" - Mung Daal
So, let's talk shop on animation. How do I make them?
Well... Take a look at this below...
As you can see (Or not...), it's rather a long process that I have yet to master, hence the jank in some of them. As for methods, I use 3 types:
Pose to Animation
Place model/s in their initial pose
Keyframe the movements to each advancing frame by moving the pose.
Add the finer details in between. (Breath, hair movement, etc)
Render.
Preset Animation
Apply Preset animation
clear keyframes on parts that require modding
Add the finer details
Render
Retroscope
Find video reference
Breakdown the reference frame for frame
Create the initial pose of the reference's first frame
Match as close to the reference as possible for each frame
Check and Render
Depending on how high-quality the animations are, they can take a bit of work and time to make and render. And some post-work goes into them too, such as upscaling and frame increasing. Overall, Animations are something of a new territory for me at the moment, but expect them to come along soon :) I still have many ideas and references to follow, both SFW and NSFW wise.
But yes, another TED Talk down. Next time, I will shed a little light on creating Characters that have no models and such, and maybe a deep dive into some TGA Characters. Again, drop a comment and like for support. I hope this serves as a good read once in a while. :)
Cheers,
Ed
