Sketchbook Update 95 (Patreon)
Content
Hi hi, you'll be fed up with me in your inbox by the end of this week ;P.
I've been a little slower with the sugar tier this month, apologies! It's because I'm working on a longer comic than usual, and I also took time to do the strip game for social media. I'll share some pages in progress tomorrow, since I've still got a while to go- and I'm actually going away next week!
This update has a huge chunk of life studies from my brothers gig, so I've actually shuffled them to the end in the hopes people will see the shinier stuff before running out of stamina lmao. Me making sketchbook updates too long? never. I had a really good time that night though, I was drawing like a demon lol, I tore through the paper at one point with how fast I was going. I thought it was kinda funny that the drawings got better the more beer I had...I guess I was more confident :P. I bought a notebook at the start of the month and finished it within weeks- at least half on that night.
One of the earlier drawings this update, but I was really happy with the kinda unusual colour choices! I love this stand of trees.
I went to stay with my mum recently, she's moved into a kind of commune in an old estate and has a little mobile home on the grounds. I unfortunately did not sleep at all the night before so I was absolutely shattered haha.
I bought a notepad on the first day and did a couple of drawings out and about- my mum said she'd never walked around locally b4 and I am astounded, its so pretty there. It was fun to explore somewhere new! I used my somewhat neglected neocolour ii for this trip because they're easier to carry, and I did some drawings with lines + colour which I continued thru the sketchbook! I'm happy to have found a new use for them because otherwise they're kind of second fiddle to oil pastels.
Back home, and speaking of oil pastels! I sanded the tin I got from the donkey rescue lady, and made it into a pastel carry case to transport my new colours :O. I said last time that I was getting mad with the lack of dark colours in my set especially, and I also bought some other colours I felt were missing! Unfortunately I learned that my current pastels somewhat pale in comparison to the neopastel. Gotta work on justifying a pastel set purchase XD they're sooo pricey.
I made good on my promise to go and do some gouache and Hmmm. Well.
It was fun, but I gotta say oil pastels are winning for me atm, I need more practice clearly! I only did the one painting but it took me ages, and I ended up eating blackberries to give me the energy to go home for dinner 🤣.
When I was drawing the second one all the farmers & their dogs came past crammed into their cars, and wanted to see what I was drawing. They said I could walk about on the cut crop field, which was extremely exciting to me 🤣, its been cool to see what's on the other side of the fields etc, and to get some new drawing locations.
I felt very clever using that blue for an exciting shadow :P.
I had to remember the lighting for this one because it was dark by the time I finished, that's the problem with sunsets!
For a few days I looked after a neighbours cat who was just so sweet and cuddly, I sat down and she came onto my lap so fast. I always intended to just stay for a little bit, but it was at the start of the itchio drama and the time away from my PC was much needed, I kept falling asleep there- I guess bc I wasn't sleeping too well!
I love food, some excellent meals this month. I love having a kind of rotating meal plan depending on the time of year, I'm excited for stews again when it gets cold. Here is salad and carbonara, and a cheeky fish and chips from Bridlington where my family lives. Also pictured, an Eccles cake, because as I mentioned before there's no local shop so these things are a nice treat. Genuinely got excited I wont lie. I fucking love all the old people bakery choices. Fuck chocolate give me dates and raisins.
This sweet pony pretending to be a thistle puff.
Thank you so much for reading, and for supporting my idyllic little life :')!
