Eugene's Confession- comic (Patreon)

Eugene visits an old friend <3
I think Eugene is too scared to confess anything regarding his homosexuality, so he's been pretty overdue talking about this stuff. I reckon he goes to a local priest to confess normal things, and he hates that he's sinning by holding back.

This is Sean and Eugene at seminary ;P.
I'm not 100% sure about his story, but I think he teaches seminary and does theology on the side. He has a long term partner called Charles who also teaches, though they don't live together, they sure spend a lot of time in eachothers quarters, and someone totally saw them shopping for curtains one time. (You know I actually have no idea if seminary teachers live-in. They do in this series I guess...)
And here Eugene is talking about him!
We're pretty close to the dance comic/coming out comic now, I think this could reasonably be just before it, though I might squeeze some bits inbetween :p. [Timeline].

No big visual reference post this time! From the time I scripted this I knew I wanted to really keep it simple, because it was mostly about the text, and not the action. I also used more webtoony layouts on some pages to save drawing and fit more speech bubbles in etc. It's interesting, in part I made it simple because I thought I'd be bored, drawing something that didn't revolve around Cliff and Eugene- but instead I just fell in love with another character lol. (I should have learned this from the spaghetti comic) I still kept it simple for my wrists sake, though!
I did reread the section on seminary in my big book 'in the closet of the vatican', and ok, these are modern day and also in Rome, so it wouldn't have been the same as Ireland in the 40/50s, I assume they wouldn't be so open about it, but still! I'm willing to bet parts of this rang true then.
So yes I think Eugene and Sean got up to some stuff in seminary, for sure. I don't think they dated, but I think Eugene did have a big crush on him, and they had some fumblings. I think they could have been happy together if Eugene hadn't have been so rule-following and scared. That and the church sending priests all over the place without that much say.
This made me laugh, about the homosexuality vs heterosexuality:
Also this part about not coming out to someone you don't trust, even in confession- which they pretend is a strict rule of secrecy, but really they use it to their benefit:

Thanks for reading :3
(and. sorry.)
