something I deeply appreciate about Fr. Eugene is that his crisis of faith isn't rooted in whether or not God exists or if he's cut out to do what he does. the fact that he doesn't ask Cliff what happened until after removing his stole tells me that he's not in conflict about whether or not he should be a servant of God, but rather that he will always have difficulty defining the line between his love for his congregation and his personal desires. he's such a well-written character and it's nice to see a fresher take on "conflicted gay priest" trope that isn't "should I throw the whole religion away for this man?"

Aw this is so much sweeter than I thought this section might be. Especially Cliff correcting himself about sleeping around. His expressions when he realizes are so adorable 💜 I'm glad they're both able to reconnect, even without having fully cleared the air here.

oh the fact that Eugene is so concerned for Cliff, both on a faith and personal level? and that when it was all too much, the first place Cliff went was Eugene, even though that's what started all this? OUGH. also, i adore the set design of Eugene's living room 💖 it's such a warm, welcoming contrast for what Cliff's been through.
