Really loving the chemistry between Holo and Lawerence, and also need to figure out how Yarei got involved with this in the first place.

Great reaction! About the part where Holo gets upset, its because of their connection. She thought they were close enough that Lawrence would drop everything for her. Specifically, when she says that she thought he would "sharpen his fangs", she meant that he would fight for her, but instead he played politics to get her back. Basically, her expectations were subverted. At least that was my takeaway.

Having read another comment from a LN/Manga reader, there is also the fact that she thought it was him who came to save her and she actually gave the rescuer a hug, some random person she didn't know hence the reason for her humiliation as well. A skipped content scene that would have provided a great deal of context.

That's fair, my thoughts were only;y based on anime context and I didn't watch the original so I don't know if that expressed it differently.

They say in the episode about how Yarei got involved, when Lawrence went to talk to the one guy. The count that overlooks the lands of the the village that Holo was part of is behind the scheme with the coins and also deals with the Medio trading company as the buyers for their wheat crops. So now they know who the backer is that was a mystery previously.

Haven't watched original either, but rewatching the scene with the hug context in play makes you realize that this is what she was implying the entire time, why they didn't have her come out and say it or show a flash back is beyond me.
