FUCK YES indeed lol! It's been a minute since a first episode pulled me in like this. Then I was anticipating your reaction and it didn't disappoint. The feeling this produces is something else, absolutely love it. Gonna be a wild four episodes I'm sure, looking forward to seeing where this goes. And yes, uzumaki means spiral or whirlpool; maelstrom; vortex; eddy; swirl.

Junji Ito, through his art, likes to show horror in the ordinary. It can be seen in Uzumaki too. A spiral is one of the most common patterns that you could run into, and this work of his will make you feel unnerved every time you run into one hereafter. Like the snail shell we see at the end of the episode. Normally, I wouldn't bat an eye, but now, I just find myself anticipating what kind of horror would come from that. Also, the part where you talked about figuring out the deal with the spirals? I highly doubt that's gonna happen. Most of the horrors of his manga are utterly incomprehensible, making them all the more creepier. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to spoil here. I haven't read the Uzumaki manga. I am just commenting on Junji Ito's story writing style
