Ryo rained boiling hot water on her, we learned in the first episode he can control the temp of the water by doing the opposite of what he does when he makes ice.

24:30 He learnt about it in the book in his house which was most likely provided by Michael. In the special section, there was mention of dragons and akuma. The subs never translated it to demons which surprised me for sure. I think I like it being called Akuma.

Episode 4 reaction already? we’re being spoiled

Japan has a few words for demons/devils, Akuma is like you said closest to “Devil” singular uncommon, it’s also a word meaning evil. Another word is “Mazoku” which means demon, this word refers to a demon race but more along the lines of Demi-humans, demons that aren’t that special, if I had to pick a representation of this I might say the tieflings from DnD. They aren’t inherently evil, they are just a race with a demonic appearance. Lastly I’ve heard “Oni” used in both ways so I’m not sure what best fits it.
