Typing this up again cause I sent it too early lol. Here's the rundown on the pre-reaction stuff you brought up: 1. Grass Wonder is the one who just passed away. She's the brown-haired one on the far left with the little dot of white in her hair 2. The release order is: Season 1 -> BNW no Chikai (OVA that's not up for streaming anywhere. I torrented it, so I can send you the video files if you want lol) -> Season Two -> Road to the Top (another OVA, available on the offical Uma Youtube channel) -> Season Three -> Beginning of a New Era (the movie) -> Cinderella Gray

Also the only ones of the main cast who are still alive are Gold Ship and Daiwa Scarlet

Oh shit so on board with this, can't wait for more

i'm glad you are reacting to this

Okay, finally finished the reaction so this is my last comment lmao. The girls in general take a fuck load of inspiration from their IRL counterparts. There's the designs, where most girls' hair colors are the same as their horse's (which is why Teio and Rudolf have that white bit in their bangs like you mentioned), there's the personalities, like how Gold Ship is a shithead troll and Oguri eats a fuck ton, and finally, their stories, which are so accurate for some of them that looking up the real horses/races can spoil you. There's also some character dynamics that are directly inspired by familial relations between the IRL horses, such as Rudolf being Teio's IRL grandfather inspiring uma Teio's admiration of Rudolf, or McQueen being Gold Ship's IRL grandfather inspiring some Golshi shenanigans later on. Anyway, I think I've yapped enough lmao. I love this series and I'm super excited to see more reactions

Victorybep explained a lot. 1. One cool thing is, since they respect the real horses, the ones that are based on irl horses are never just jerks. So to play a bad guy, they just made up queen berry lol 2. S2 is more popular because the drama gets very heavy. I've seen some suggest s2 is one of the best seasons of a sports anime ever. Though Cinderella gray has gotten a lot of love too. 3. Don't dig too deep into real careers, it'll ruin the show. But afterwards, a lot of noteworthy horses have vids explaining the similarities and differences.

WarriorOfLight

time to finally watch this. I am awaiting your gacha playthrough hahaha

WarriorOfLight

Welcome to japanese where musume means both daughter and girl.

WarriorOfLight

Umamusume is completely cygames property. From what I have heard. The game was planned to come first then the anime. But with some development hell. The anime released first. Cygames did a multi media strategy by releasing umamusume in different medium in around the same time. Maybe first seasons had some different main animation studio but still owned by Cygames.

Didn't see anyone else mention it in the comments, but Eclipse was a british racing horse that raced in 1769-1770. He won 18/18 races and had to be retired after 17 months because no one wanted to bet on any other horses than him. "Eclipse first, the rest nowhere" was first used by his second owner (if I understood my sources correctly) before betting on Eclipse and using the winnings to buy him in one of his first races.
