Yeah, the Suzuka thing is rough. Don't worry, there's no more twists like that with injuries compared to irl. Don't get depressed every time you see one in the future lol.

The Academy that they race for is a combined junior and high school (possibly some college as well). High school representing the 3 main years for a racing horse's career junior, classic and senior (2, 3 and 4 yo?) These 2 episodes McQueen and Teio have graduated into high school. The tyre is a asphalt tyre for giant mining vehicles. Trainer is a good allegory for the player, right down to the fact that part of Cygames rules are "Don't lewd the uma", but like Trainer, the players are always testing that line. I didn't expect them to give him some character growth, realising that his laissez-faire style of coaching wasn't going to help Spe or Suzuka, so got more involved. Vodka and Scarlett's trainers have such a rivalry, that it is rumoured that Scarlett's trainer wouldn't allow rights, unless her "size" was bigger than Vodka.

The beach episodes is representation from the game, where you go to summer vacation and train at max level for 2 months.
