This is JUST as unique and weird as I was expecting it to be and I am SO on board lol

Also i GENUINELY apologize so much, the recording I usually use for the Patreon episode overlay records my web browser normally and obviously for this series I was not using that. So I did not capture the show at all because I forgot to change it... 😭 So the YouTube overlay will be the one for this video, it will be back to the normal patreon overlay next week. Genuinely so sorry, I obviously DID NOT want to mess up this first episode, but it will be correct for the rest of them.

Many people call this the best female cast in anime in general. For me, I wouldn’t call it the best I’d just say it’s unique. Every character in Monogatari, especially the female characters, has a unique design, personality, and arc. So I’m really excited to see your reaction to this series. The second thing is, this is just my personal opinion, but I think the best way to experience Monogatari is to watch two or three episodes per week. Why? Because the anime is honestly very heavy especially in terms of dialogue and direction. I’ve seen many reactors who clearly look bored during their reactions. I just hope you don’t drop the series because it’s truly unique, which is why you should watch it in small doses. Also, I forgot to mention — Hitagi is my second favorite girl. I really can’t wait for you to meet the best girl!

You will often find that the Monogatari series has an abundance of imagery and metaphors that it will make a point to highlight, but ADAMANTLY REFUSE to explain why they're important (or if they even ARE important). Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't TRY to interpret stuff, you dEFINITELY should if you feel like you're catching onto something, but don't feel like a dumbass if it feels confusing and overwhelming. It's TRYING to confuse and overwhelm you. Many of the dialogue exchanges are outright shitposts. Stay alert, but don't forget to enjoy the fact that the show IS fucking with you

My gosh the reaction is popping off. I feel like I underestimated the popularity of monogatari lol. Also that beginning segment felt like a trailer for the whole season and I loved it.

the "black" refers to the black frame we see when he blinks. You'll see a lot of these on future episodes, it's just a stylistic choice to show/describe frames. Sometimes it will be "red" on a red screen, "white" on a white screen.
